I would go with a Dean's set for any soft, dollar sized coins and an expanded set for anything else.

I'd prefer expanded shell set for soft coins

I have decided on a dean's set walking liberty for a variety of reasons. One, the unexpanded shell looks beautiful from the sides and side of coin with the opening of the shell facing you (nearly invisible). Two, the walking liberty design itself is beautiful. and three, they are semi soft which allows them to not "talk" but still have good detail on the faces. Out of curiosity of those who own a walking liberty set, how shiny are the coins, are the darkened, dull, shiny, etc? From the pictures on coinvanish.com they appear to be fairly dull looking.
