Can someone please tell me the name of the musical piece that accompanies the performance? It is so dog-gone HAPPY that I just have to get it!
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Kent, what a find! Thank you.
It is a reminder to me however... I have recently been working on my own routine and was as pleased as punch when I had the "original" idea of adding a "tweaked" something from nothing to produce the balls at the beginning... Looks like I am a few years too late... <<<eating a large slice of humble pie!>>> ![]() |

Interesting video - thanks for sharing. He's performing Vernon's routine, isn't he?

Thank's for sharing. I think it is a slightly modified Vernon routine.
But have you seen this? http://dailymotion.alice.it/relevance/se......mpre_fun Sorry probably out of topic....but very funny.... |

Wow, that was fun to watch.
This is the first time that I have seen an Opening with the balls the way he did it. Glad to have seen it. I like seeing the use of a Wand without having to spin it, because Wand spinning is not something I can do at this time. Just love the way he uses the Wand, he was very graceful the same as his sleight of hand. Now I feel a purpose to use the Wand withou being an expert at Wand spinning Did he use patter in this film or was it just music? Thanks Kent for sharing this excellent film. Have fun folks. |

Is there a book, booklet, or magazine somewhere out there with this routine?
I am collecting as many C&B and Chop cup routines as I possibly can, it does not cost as much as collecting Cups. Thanks Madkiki |

I am on the road and using laptop on DIAL UP and can't get it to play. So, without seeing it, I will make some first hand comments having been with Ken Brooke, in pubs at his home, shop, dealer stands at conventions.
First. Fab Fruit? No way. Ricky Jay was visiting and was telling Ken how great the Paul Fox cups were, in that the load ball could "Appear" to be bigger than the cups. Ken said, "Ricky... size doesn't matter. It's THE CHANGE. Come, I'll show you." He grabbed his cups, closed the shop, and headed around the corner to a veg market. He bought 3 lemons, asking for SMALL ones. Next stop the Dog and Duck pub. He spotted 3 young couples at a table and said "Watch this." He walked over to them and started to chat. Within a minute he had his cups out and started going. He had them laughing and gasping.. and at the "DEATH" (British for "the finish") when he lifted the cups they went insane with cheers and applause. He turned to Ricky and said, "See.. it isn't the size that mattered, it's the change." BTW Ken's routine is in print. I'm, as I say, away from home and when I get home will look see where it is in print. His Chop Cup routine is what made Paul Daniels rich and famous. Again, without seeing this clip, my guess it was AFTER both Dai Vernon and Slydini had visited and lectured in London and he was influenced by their work. But Ken was Ken and it was "his touches" and "style" that made the difference. Can't wait to get home and see the clip.

Kent,
WOW!! Thanks for that video clip. Very entertaining and instructional. What perfectly motivated moves and misdirection. Thanks again for the clip. Made my day. And yes, the music was charming. Please feel free to keep spending "way too much time on-line". Quote:

I have always thought Ken Brooke made a mistake in moving to the Vernon routine, his own routine was also rewarding. Vernon made an enormous impact during his lecture tour in Britain and Ken Brooke travelled with him so the influence was constant.
I was surprised that this was Ken Brooke he must have carefully adapted his performance to film which must have taken some time and thought. james1a |
