Anyone using a Tony Spina Ultra Appearing Cane?
What are your experiences? -Koenraad |

I only use the Mahka tendo appearing cane. It works amazingly well. It is a bit loud but if used for stage work on a stage it is not much of an issue. Plus the sound also happens so quickly, it almost makes it appear that the sounds is what creates and produces the cane.

Never heard of Tony Spina or his Ultra, but I can second Kyle's opinion, I have tried several different types and mfg's of appearing cane and the only one worth a dang is the Tendo cane. the other types just do not open and re-tract as smoothly and consistently.

Not recommended for 2 reasons, Lock mechanism is not safe, it might open accidently. Second the blue color easy to fade out.

Indomagic, do you say that the color will fade out by frequente use?
I think the Mahka Tendo canes are very long if I'm correct. And how would you compaire the qualitty to the Fantasio Cane's? -Koenraad |

Actually the Tendo cane is slightly shorter than some of the other canes I've tried, or about the same length. Indomagic can't possibly be talking about the lock mechanism because it is actually the SAFEST one I have seen.
In my routine I have a compressed cane loaded on my belt at the back, if the cane slipped and accidentally opened it could be very dangerous and basically slam open into my head... so I had to try several canes before I found one safe enough. |

I agree. the Tendo cane has a great locking mechanism in it and it ease of use (even one handed) is just wonderful. It is reliable and opens all the time. I only use this cane in my shows.

Hi James, its' the Tendo cane.
other types of cane I have tried have a smooth metal bar lock mechanism, that sits across the coil and is held in by the friction of the spring-load pushing up. This is unsafe. The Tendo cane has a nice "bump" at the end of its locking bar AND the locking bar has a positive-release spring built into it... so you are either locked, or released, no in-between. It is the only brand I will trust now putting into a show. The opening action is VERY fast and the tip has a metal cone built into it , and so it would be very dangerous if not carefully designed. But this metal cone looks a lot better and more wide and solid at the base of the cane. (other cheaper canes simply look like the end of a radio antenna, a tiny little narrow point at the end, this could expose the gimmick if studied by a laymen) |

I purchased a Maintaince Free appearring metal cane at magi-fest, and it has held up really well. I have noticed that the few times I used the torch with it that the metal is warped a bit, but it never interferred with the spring.

I am referring to Ultra Appearing Cane. I recommended Mahka Tendo Cane. Koenraad, The color is fading out after 5-10 times use. |
