I don't actually use this line in performance, but I've used it for laughs in various situations (not necessarily magical) and pass it along as a possible closing line for a stand-up comic magic act:

"If you've enjoyed this half as much as I have . . . (pause) . . . then I guess I've enjoyed it twice as much as you!"

To end my cabaret, I say stuff like ...

"We have an expession in showbusiness which says that an entertainer is only as good as his audience ... and I've been crap tonight!"

OR

"Be careful when you drive home tonight. In <local town> there's a man knocked down every five minutes ... and he's getting bloody fed up with it!"

OR

"You've no idea how it feels to come to the end of another brilliantly written and impeccably performed magic show. Unfortunately neither have I!"

OR

"If I'd known tonight would have gone on so long I'd have bought the dinner suit!"

Don't use these in the U.K., alright? Smile
Warmest regards
James

I think it's more important to leave them with your name and a little hope that magic actually exists. I say, I'm Darryl the Wizard...and until we meet again ,may all your dreams be filled with magic."

From my friend Rob Brackenridge:

This is the time I have to end my show, I don't want to get sued if you hurt yourself clapping so I devised a way to do it for you (removing a piece of cellophane from you pocket). This is just part of a cigarette pack but when I crumple it it sounds like applause (crumpple it into the microphone and whisper yeah! Way to go! We love you!). Actually it sounds more like the guy living above me peeing from his balcony (crumple it again with out any words).

This has always been a good one. Smile

Hmmm, cigarettes and bathroom humor; I don't think I'll be using these. Thanks for getting us to think, though ...

I used to use this as my last line ... "Kermit the Frog once said, 'life is like a movie ... you write your own ending.' This is my ending, goodnight" (something along those lines anyway)

Depends on your audience, some of us perform in the bar atmosphere, as well as the straight laced or for kiddies. Obviously you would not use it for the last two.

I had it written once that it doesn't fit MY character, but I hit "back" button, and lost it. I didn't re-write that part, but I did say that I won't be using it, not that it should not be, ever. Certainly, if it fits the situation, have at it. Kids would laugh a lot at the second, but the parents would possibly not have you back.

Still, it does get the juices flowing.

No problem, I just did not want people thinking I close EVERY show like this. It has to fit the audience and since it was different, I thought I'd share it.

I do mainly comedy escapes and not an entire show based around comedy so I don't come to this area often.

Everyone's suggestions are quite good though. GEE and I thought AJ came up with the If you didn't like the show line.

Hopefully they have been laughing all show. I do a false ending and I come back and finish the show. After that it is strictly rock star " my name is ----------thank you very much ,good night"

"Well, that concludes my program for tonight! If you enjoyed my show you can find me on-line at raywongmagic.com..... Thank you for your kind attention. I would recommend you as an audience... anywhere!"

OR

"Well, that concludes my show. My name is Ray Wong... and if you had as much FUN as I had, I had TWICE as much fun as you!"

OR

"Well, that brings my program to a close. My name is Ray Wong... and if THIS WAS FUN... YOU HAD IT!"

Just a couple of closing lines that I use from time to time. Cheers!

I usually finish with Wayne Rogers Missing Spade. I spend the WHOLE show trying to find a card and then finish by unfurling a banner which should reveal their Four Of Spades. But there is only THREE! I count them, "one two three or....and FOUR!" then pull out a full sized garden spade from behind the banner!

It gets a great laugh and I applause and I simply saying "Thank you very much...and good night" and the applause builds again.
