I started down the billiard ball path when I realized that a lot of the things you can do with coins can be done bigger and with more color using balls. copper silver change -> better color change with a ball retention vanish - > better retention vanish false xfer -> false xfer vanish -> better vanish production -> better production 3Fly -> 3 fly with balls? why not. coins and silk -> balls and silk they play a lot bigger than coins as well. go balls!!!

Well after playing with the Vernet set for some time (a couple weeks) I am getting frustrated with the shell, it kind of lets the ball fall out too easily, I think Im going to take the route silverfoxx traveled and try to order some Fakini ones. Thanks for the info in this thread

You won't have trouble with them falling out... they really stick! Almost too well!

Trashmanf - don't even think about it, just give Frank your order. You wont be disappointed.
The only thing I will say is to make sure you can handle BB's that are 2" in size. You will be surprised at just how much bigger they feel and look, than 1 3/4" (although I don't know what size you are used to - I think Vernet's are 1 3/4"). Good luck, but above all, have fun. Dave

Vernet balls are the worst. They are too light and they even get slick after awhile. Better get the super glue ready also if you drop them on a hard floor.

If you can, I'd highly recommend contacting Frank directly; he's really helpful and nice, and it was great talking to him. I learned a lot just from that phone call.

Frank, I'll toss this in, Marc's Zombie routine on that video is fantastic. Actually, all of it is amazing. Marc is a very underrated performer. He doesn't get as much credit as he really deserves.

Yes, yes, I use a lot of his linking ring moves in my routine as well. That's why it's a "Prize Winning" act.

Haha very good... well I didn't see this post until I'd ordered some 1 3/4 balls from hank's magic factory ... they are WAY better and I like the added weight, grippy feel and bouncyness. I probably should check out those 2", I sent you a pm Frank!

Once you have the moves, buy some glass balls (they exist with shells), and a toy for doing soap bubbles. Blow some bubbles and make them appear. If you want to go far in that direction (which has a very poetic look) Fin Jon has a "juice" that you can actually catch on your hand. It's a great misdirection for pulling a glass ball withthe other hand and burst the soap bubble with the glass one.
Watching soap bubbles manipulated is really impressive to watch when the performer is not too basic and keeps suggesting that they are still made of soap (letting them "burst" when they disappear) The great books on balls to make it look magic are not very recent but are in my opinion Geoffrey Buckingham: It's easier than you think! exist in book form and now on Double length DVD that you could find namely here: https://midwestmagic.net/shop/item.asp?itemid=1920 On the pure book front, by far the unarguable best (even if you don't read French) is Zum Pocco (Aka Decamps). Magie des boules. Paris : Mayette , 1968 (scarce) which is an extremely complete encyclopedia of all ball manipulations and moves. Now if you are too shy to take a chance at a French book, get Burling Hull Expert Billiard Ball Manipulation Part 1 and Part 2, published by the Star Magic Company in 1928 (several editions). Pictorial wraps, over 200 photograph illustrations, and 92 pages total. For the balls try Joe Stevens Magic Emporium
