Hello,

I would like to buy new linking rings, I have this requirements:
- they has to be LIGHT, lighter, better
- they should look good and last for a long time
- locking key - I am not sure if the magnetic locking key is good?
- I will perform them on the stage, so size at least 10"

Can you recommend me any?

Thank you

I think the proline rings are the best.

If you use the Search function and enter "best linking rings," you'll find a goodly number of previous threads on this exact topic.

Good rings also tend to show up often at magic club auctions. Don't forget that you can ask here on the Magic Café for someone with a set for sale. (Go to Let's Make a Deal.)

These are props that people either use frequently or never. Life changes!

The best key for me can not be good for you. There is a lot of information in the café about linking rings. I´m looking the inglish is not you language (maybe russian?).Make a search in the Café by "linking rings", and you will find a lot of information.

Why do they have to be light? The best rings IMO are the hollow stainless steel rings made by Owen Magic Supreme.

I have a set of these and they are really beautiful, very very light weight, and ring nicely. I'm not sure I'm sold on the locking mechanism but the routine I did needed a locking key.

Why the proline sell this routine with a locking mechanism?
Thanks to share this information, I realy like to know about this.
But in the case of "matej", he know very well what he need...(just fishing)

I would suggest check out the Redefine Rings at Hocus Pocus. I have had a set for almost a year and they are great and take a beating. I also have a set of Owen Rings and I hate to admit it, but I am not sure I can tell the difference.

Have a nice day,

P.S.

I really don't think you need a locking key but you do need Chris Capehart's Linking Ring Dvd!!!

My friend Robert just bought a set and they are terrible!!! Seriously...he spent about $150.00 for a set of RNT Rings thinking he was going to get a nice set and they are eqaul to a cheap set of $30 rings hanging on a hook at the local magic shop.

The BEST set you can buy is by PROLine.

I purchased those this year. The only thing I do not like is the engraving in each ring.

I have Redefine Rings from the first run which do not have the engraving on each ring. Also I see that Mikame has come out with what appears to be a pretty nice set of 10 inch hollow stainless rings which appear to be pretty nice. Check with Hocus Pocus for more info, also I think a few other dealers have these rings.

Have a nice day,

I have received many PMs from people who wanted to know why the RNT rings were so bad. I thought I would post it here on this thread so everyone will know just how bad they truely are.

First of all...they're not seamless! You can see where they "attempted" to make them seamless but it was a very poor attempt.

Next...they're not round! Again...a poor attempt at making a round ring but not even close. Both of the single rings actually have a point. Round shouldn't have a point!

The rings are very dull! No amount of polishing them will give them a luster or shine.

When the rings link there is absolutely no tone! A good set of rings (heck...even a decent set of rings) should have a tone hang time of a few seconds. This don't chime when they link...they just go "glunk!" and that's about it!

In my experience...a standard linking ring should measure about 1/4" thick...the RNT rings are maybe about the thickness of a spaghetti noodle. Absolutely aweful!

I could go on and on about other things I noticed but I think the important thing to understand is to stay away from the RNT Set of rings. I just think it's odd...b/c RNT sells such beatuiful cups and other items...but their rings are just horrible!

I have a set of Empire Rings that I got for $10 years ago that are far better quality then the RNT set. Go figure...??!!!??

I need to put out a RETRACTION from my previous post:

My buddy Robert did order a set of rings from RNT. They were 10" and yes...they did truly STINK! Their quailty of the worst I have ever seen.

HOWEVER...

Robert contact RNT and they sent him ANOTHER SET of rings (12") that I saw today. They are stunningly beautiful, and have great tone. Everything you could want in a solid stainless chromed set, dazzlingly bright with invisible seams, and they ring like bells. Very nice set of rings (for $150.00). With that said...the only drawback I could find was that they were HEAVY!!! Something I'm sure they could get use too.

So for $150.00, RNT DOES make a great set of 12" rings. To Jake and his daughter...please execpt my apology for the ripping your rings. You did right and got a great set of rings into the hand of my buddy and I'm very happy with the end result! Good job!

Glad to hear that RNT2 made a good set of heavy rings. I was concerned because there are a few companies today that make nice hollow lightweight rings. But these hollow rings are not necessarily the best for all performers.

And I was wondering if anyone was making a good heavy weight set (like the Merv Taylor rings from long ago). I am curious to see these RNT2 rings myself as I personally like handling heavy duty rings. Perhaps I shall give them a try?

Best regards,
Levent
