Based on a comment in another thread on linking rings from the highly esteemed Jonathan Neal, I stopped worrying about obtaining the "best" rings (whatever the "best" may be: Merv Taylor, Owen, Proline, old RNT, Van Dokkum, etc.) and I purchased a vintage set of new/old stock rings that were sold by the now defunct Magic Masters shop (not "Magic Makers", a totally different company). The Magic Masters rings were re-branded rings made by Suds/Bumper. They didn't break the bank. (purchased on eBay).

My parents bought me a set of 8" rings from Magic Masters as a kid - I still have them and they are beautiful! I always wondered who made them. Magic Masters was such a cool store back in the day - so classy and for a time, they old very nice quality items.
