Great investigation. several players took ultimatebet.com and another site for over 20 million. They got an employee to hack the code so that they could see players cards.
just played out here, west coast. go to cbs.com or washingtonpost.com/investigations for more info

You can also cheat by using several computers, credit cards and poker bots. But, they did not talk about that.

Yeah, when it started I though it would either be collusion or some way of seeing the cards. I didn't know that credit cards could be used to cheat..

I'm almost sure that any programmer leave a backdoor in those softwares.

So, the software thinks that the same person in located in different geographies under different names.

I can't imagine why you would not automatically think you were at the very LEAST be a victim of collusion! My lord all it takes is an instant message for crying out loud.
Let alone the software implications involved. It just seems like that combined with the being in another country so the rules may very well not apply, makes it a tough sell to me. Not to others I guess, it is a HUGE business!

I think it would be naive to believe that some bad things are not happening without anyone's knowledge. NOTE: Of course, even code written by American programmers can also be compramised...But, you have to think about risk.

So your contention is that everyone is a crook not just Indian and Chinese people?
PC nonsense aside, the games are serverly compromised on many levels.

I mentioned Indian & Chinese because of all of the outsourcing going on with very little oversight and control....But, according to the newspaper article below, they are not a problem....(a Hindu newspaper )
That is not to say that USA programmers do not write trojan horses, viruses, etc. But, most comes from overseas. Here are stats from the Hindu Business Line (June 4, 2008): "China and the US accounted for 16.77 per cent and 14.33 per cent of the attack traffic, while Taiwan, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, Turkey, and India, competed the top 10 list." I am surprised that Africa is not mentioned....because there is a lot of identity theft which comes from Africa....But, I don'ty think thay have many programmers.

I double checked and found the following link :: http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/2008......1200.htm Your first remark sounded very biased but your later posts specially the one I am quoting in this reply suggests otherwise. My only point was to question your remark so that the intent of it was made clear ( keeping in mind the casual readers who might form an ill opinion about certain ethnic groups ). |

May I suggest that you lighten up...I have friends of all ethnic groups and non of them feel insecure about their background.
Note: Some of my friends include Koreans, Chinese, blacks, Indians, Italians, British, Russian, etc. I also have friends which a Jewish, Catholic, etc. Bear in mind that I am from New York and am friendly with everyone...otherwise I would not survive. I would never go out of my way to offend anyone, race or religion. But, I am sorry that you get offended so easily But we can keep debating if you would like
