I tried without success to find a Café review of the M5 system, sold by Ellusionist. It's a PK effect that looks dazzling on the clips. Anyone?

I have one and it's ok. I'm kind of sorry I paid so much for it. It's good for the steel coins, and some of the levitations (match stick). But, if you want a good bare-handed vanish I would go with the Raven. Besides, I think the M5 is a little too bulky.

Thanks, Gad. I have the Raven. Bought it five years ago and have never used it. Sad! I'm going to revisit that sucker. I was just disappointed with the prep work needed and the non-reset, or very obvious reset, for walk-arounds or table hopping. Any tips on reloading?

I have an M5 as well and haven't used it in over a year. I agree with Gad, it is very bulky. It can be used for some cool effects but usually I find the cons outweigh the pros.

Sounds like a consensus. Thanks, gents.

Rather than the M5, I suggest looking at the raven, or possibly the gecko depending on your needs.
Cheaper... more versatile...

Thanks for your comments on this, guys. I had always used the Raven, and was thinking about the M5, but recently I'd heard not so great things about it.
All the input is appreciated, Evan

I have the m5, raven, raven x2, black widow, and gecko. I personally love the black widow the best. Here's a little blurb from it's advertisement:
The Black Widow is a sleek, compact, mechanical device that can be comfortably worn through out the day under your jacket, long sleeved shirt or sweatshirt. The 30 second set up is very simple, with a just a single organic anchor point. Incredibly easy to operate. Just move your empty hand forward and back. Instantly resets. Its always ready to go. Can also be used to vanish and produce objects on a spectators hand. Also includes effects using playing cards, business cards, and a drivers license. This price of around $240 is a lot for most to afford though. However I think its more effective then the m5, gecko, and raven, all combined. |

To get real value from the M5 you'll have to get a little creative. The effects I use it for were not included in the kit.
So sorry I soiled your precious eyes.

Hey Gospel Dan, thanks for sparking an old memory for me. When I was a kid, I gimmicked an old book to hide some money in it. I think I'll give it another shot.

Gospel Dan's got the idea.
Here's another. Try out the jewelry making section at Hobby Lobby. Create your own chopped items. It's fun.

What do you mean by "chopped items"? Is chopping the same as shimming? (do you realize they both have a repeated consonant in the middle of the word, and an h on the second letter, there must be a connection?:))

I was thinking about purchasing an M5, but I thought better and bought some better effects. I mayrevisit it, though.
When asked, "Would anybody play cards with you today?" Ricky Jay simply responded, "Sure."
