I met Steve at a guitar show. Heck of a nice guy as well.

That was alright... Wakeman was the one really tearin' it up. Smile

Each member over the years has shown oustanding musicianship of the highest degree. Each has had his moments...from the original members to the outstanding replacements.

I was in on this band when thwey were doing Beatle covers, early 70's.
Seen 'em twice live. What a show.

The thing Tom was not the 'tearin' it up' but the USE of a Steel in a rock anthem...just darn cool to see. (and hear)

YES! You had me confused for a moment, I was thinking dead druggie pitcher when I saw the name. The Wakeman reference made me recall the band.

Yes, it's cool, I'll give you that. And there's a frigging HARP on the stage behind Steve!

Still: no pedals.

I seem to recall that Jimmy Page used a PEDAL steel on the first Led Zeppelin album.

The pedal steel guitar may be the greatest instrument in the history of mankind.

It is certainly one of the hardest to play. It's like flying an airplane or something: both hands, both feet, and a high potential for disaster.

I'm partial to the Dobro. Smooooooth like a good Kentucky Bourbon.

Steve Howe fans...here is the Master at the TOP of his game in an awesome LIVE version of Close To The Edge...

Another Ultimate Yes in Concert 2006 version but without Wakeman. I'm not a fan of Moraz keyboards.
Still can't beat the original: Anderson, Bruford and Wakeman with Squire on his magic Bass. I like White better n LIVE drums though.

Any artists outhere who might not be aware...here is Jon Anderson's solo album (in various guses that will really get your brush painting from some deep spot you ain't tapped yet. Smile Olias Of Sunhillow

A nice introduction to Olias Of Sunhillow. Jon did it ALL...wrote it, performed it, played ALL the instruments...100% solo. Quite a trip. I'm no alone in thinking it's the greatst solo album ever produced...huge dedicated fan base.

Here is the entire album with vid:

I am also a huge fan of an early band that Steve Howe was in called "Tomorrow". On their LP, you can hear a couple of Steve Howe's signature licks. He is a phenomenal musician.

I've been fortunate to see Yes several times, the last being the "Tales from Topographic Oceans" tour in the 1970s... Such incredible cross-genre musicians in that era, including ELP, ELO, etc.

I have even played some very fine orchestral arrangements by Frank Zappa!

Can you imagine some of the songwriters today trying to pull off something like that?!?!?!
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

That's the coolest thing I have ever seen! (Musicwise)

When I was a lad, my uncle Bill played steel in a band...fascinating instrument! I have a lot of great memories attached to that.

Thanks for putting that up Doug! I play some slide and have played around with a lap steel but never a peddle! Being in Nashville West (Bakersfield) I have seen and heard of awesome steel guys doing Country but seeing (hearing) Steve has me inspired!
