I had a long article written, and it was accidentally deleted before posting, so I cant remember everything I said but it was good stuff.

Short and Sweet

What is your opinions, viewpoints etc and how can we put a stop to what he is NOT doing for those of us whom really put time into all other aspects of magic?

My personal opinion is that the best thing you can do is to to concentrate on improving your own performance and stop worrying about him (Chaz, I don't mean to imply that your performance is anything less than exemplary, I'm talking in general terms).

Where are you getting that I do not put enough concentration into my own work? I have worked really hard on my show, and it is paying off each performance. As a matter a fact I just finished a fantastic performance for the United States Military today!

This guy is revealing tricks that need to be purchased in order to learn. (vanishing/ appearing canes candles, dove pans, the list is to long) and it is all avaliable for public viewing curiosity seekers.

So why am I posting this? Because we do as magicians work really hard and put a great deal of concentration into our work, and only to have it destroyed by this guy lame ass personality and non entertaining abilities.

It simply needs to stop!

The guy's just a tool. There's no stopping him (he's clearly beyond reason) short of doing something horrible and/or illegal, so... Best not to lose any sleep over it.

Many people have produced mocking and insulting videos on youtube in response to his idiotic exposing antics, but to little avail. (other than our amusement)

Some fools revel in infamy. For a while. And then...

Chaz, I though (but obviously wrongly), that I made it clear I was NOT specifically refering to you, but meant magicians in general (myself included). Yes, the guy's a jerk and what he does is wrong, but like you said, you're doing fine regardless.

What I meant was that magicians in general, stand to gain more by ignoring him and investing time in improving their own performances rather than trying to stop someone that no member of their audience is likely to ever hear of.

Once again I am not assuming or implying anything about your own work or how much effort you put in.

Thanks for the heads up Chaz. I make that typo so often one would think I would know to look for it.

No you should go back and read what you posted. You said......the best thing "YOU" can do....not "US"

But my point in this post was not to start a war, but I can agree that it is very important for us to put a lot of concentration in our own work. I also however think that their is a matter here that magicians should pay attention to. Meaning if you run into this guy at a convention, one of his shows etc then pay him no respect.

I highly doubt this clown would ever show his face at a convention! Other than a cheesy kids party that some friend of his mommy unfortunately gave him, I wouldn't imagine he gets many bookings!

FWIW Chaz,
I read WilburrUK's post exactly as he intended (in general) and with no inference toward you!

Great!!! I am sure we all (or at least hope) that we put a lot of concentration into our own work.

OK so I apologise. I should have said "we" and "our". I do however stand by the sentiment of my post.

Cheers,
Wilburr.

Chaz, I hope you don't take things that personally all the time. I'm with Wilburr in that magicians should just practice more and stop worrying about this guy. There's nothing to do to stop him, but no one hears about the site until other magicians bring it up.

Hey Cool! That is what this post is about others opinions on this guy. Not about how personable I am.

The term "YOU" that wilburruk used in his above post was taken the wrong way by myself, and I do apologize.

After all David J. Castle did teach me how to use a dove pan properly!

I posted this in reference to anyone that may know him personally, maybe was once his mentor, and was curious to know what others opinions were of him. Believe me this when I say I haven't lost any sleep over it, and plan not to. I can admit to not concentrating on my own work until recently "due to a magic high" and now practice nightly for my manipulation dove act, and have also put more thought into my show (which has paid off recently)

P.S. why does it seem like everyone here on the Café has to do nothing but apologize to people? Aren't we suppose to be on here to help each other, and protect our art?

Chaz

Wilbur I can see a point here though!

If we continue to mention him on the Café and other forums then it only promotes what he does?

No harm meant, and I understand where you are comming from after your second post.

Thanks
Chaz

ODE TO J. CASTLE

Oh David J., oh David J.,
How you brighten up my day
Your hair and glasses are so Edited
But you don't care, it's all ok...

Because you have millions and a PHD.

Your presentations are so bland
Lost cards are found on your command
You have 25 feet of streamer in your hand
Why is that? Well, you just can...

Because you have millions and a PHD.

Your website is LearnMagicTricks
Where magic is exposed in just a few clicks
Those who post are exposure [edited]
but it doesn't matter, you redneck hick...

Because you have millions and a PHD.

Respected by magi, you are not
But according to Mommy, you are hot.
You expose magic a heck of a lot
If you walked into a magic shop, you'd be shot.

Say goodbye to your millions and PHD.
