I heard 18 years on the radio just now.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

The analysts on tv keep revising what the sentence means in practical terms.
The latest I heard is that this all translates into a minimum of 7.5 years that will have to be served. A few minutes ago, they were saying it was a minimum of 6 years. For some reason, it has now been revised up to 7.5 years. FWTIW.

Seem like a pretty harsh sentence. It's not like he killed someone...again.
Hope there are no riots.

I wonder if he'll use all that time to finally solve the murders?

I was able to watch about 2 mins of his sniveling to the Judge before I'd had enough! I really don't care how long he gets as long as he has to do it in Gen Pop and receives ZERO special treatment! Fight, !@#$ or run for the fence big boy!

Nah, to get special treatment in Las Vegas, all you have to do is stay OUT of jail.

Poor guy. He didn't even know holding a room full of people at gunpoint was illegal. He thought they were all friends, and he just wanted his belongings.
Hopefully he'll show the same arrogance, lack of remorse and acknowledgment of his actions at his parole hearings.

13 years 13 hours. It was plain eerie.
Why is it, my mind asks, that some people are just drawn to trouble all their days as a moth is drawn to a flame? For some folks it's almost like it's their fate or their destiny...

Did OJ have any trouble before he hacked up Ron and Nicole? I think that and the civil suit is where it all went down for him.

Interesting tidbits, especially the last paragraph: Prosecutors and defense attorneys said Simpson would have to serve at least nine years before eligible for parole, meaning the 61-year-old former football and movie star would be 70 years old before seeing freedom. District Attorney David Roger said he expected Simpson would serve longer than 9 years in prison, saying that parole is rarely granted on first eligibility in cases involving violence. The prosecutor disclosed for the first time that Simpson had been offered a plea deal before the trial and again in judge's private chambers at one point during the trial. He said Simpson rejected the offer, which would have involved a prison sentence shorter than the one Glass imposed.

Maybe I'm too philosophical.

He still got it too easy. The book should have been thrown at him and slammed into his face as well. Oh well. He will be in prison long enough to start up a good relationship with bubba and his friends tho so that's good.

It seems to me that the psychological impact could weigh heavier on someone that has A) lived a pretty blessed life (ie. celebrity status) and B) One who has gotten away with murder and thinking he's untouchable! Add to that his age and having been an athlete I'm sure the aches and pains he could manage on the outside world with chiropractors, pain meds etc. will not be so manageable inside! I'm sure his stay will be pretty tough (as it should be) but I also agree he got off easy!
Who wants to bet he gets religion and writes (another) book!?!? I'm sure if he does, Mr Goldman will be there to collect! |
