The question keeps appearing in the for sale section but according to Michael Ammars site (www.ammarmagic.com) you can get them again in various sizes including a load baseball and I thought I'd share with the Café
Hope this helps some of you guys |

I got an original set of Mike Rogers from Jeff Busby and this is good to know, as I wanted a back up set. I wish there was a bit larger than 1 inch though.
I think Ammar may 'color' his balls. Yea, I know he uses them a lot and may color from use. But if you ever drop a pure white one or get a stain on it or just dirty...and loose one...ya gotta replace it, so a new pure white one would stick out. So just color them all with a light shoe polish? Wonder what he uses? -Scott M |

I was at a recent Michael Ammar lecture and this exact question was asked.
Michael admitted the coloring on his balls were simply "patina" from years of use. An excellent point is made about what to do with a new "bright white ball" Perhaps Bill Palmer could share some wisdom? He usually comes up with very simply solutions to things like this. Bill? .....I have a feeling this has been discussed before! Now I'm curious! Best to all, Mike |

I used the Mike Rogers baseballs at the Renaissance Festival for a long time. I used several sets, so if I lost one, I had one ready that was already fairly well patinated. I also had a nice white set for use among civilized folks!
Best answer -- get two sets and use both of them. Second best answer -- get two sets and give them a light coat of some kind of leather finish that is not brilliant white.

I like the worn in look, like the way a much used baseball looks. I wonder if working in the balls with Dubbin or Vaseline would produce the right look. Anyone tried?
Somewhat related... Bill: will Ammar's Fab Fruit loads fit properly in the RNT2's recent PF Copper Cups? Thanks, Jeff |

They should. They fit the old Paul Fox cups.
I don't know if Michael has gone back to the old size of fab fruit. There were some a couple of years ago that were smaller, so they could be used in the cups that Encore magic made him.

I had Mike make up a bunch of sets for me INSIDE OUT.... The leather, that is... so it wasn't "slick" but suede like.

That actually sounds pretty interesting. Did they age well?

I was thinking of getting the Van Dokham minibaseballs. I know they are top qualities and priced at the high end. I nearly ordered from Jedinat but they are out of stock since 3 weeks ago. Now, this is a very good news to me and I have already placed my order although they won't be shipped until the 16th Dec.
Is it necessary to get a back up set or they just go very quickly? Thanks Bob
Best Regards,
Bob |

It is a handmade prop... If you think you might loose one, it may be better to get another set from the same "batch"... I know in the past the quality varied so take that in to consideration...

I really like Michael Sullivan's mini baseballs. Their vinyl covers are very easy to clean.

I recently bought a set of Three from a member here, because of my puppy getting hold of one of mine.
I was amazed, but both sets looked identical. I was afraid there might be some variance in color, etc. But, none. I was happy about that. But because of that experience, I placed an order for a set! RevJohn |
