Okay, I have this weird lumpy thing at the base/joint of the fourth finger of my left hand. It is where the finger meets the palm.
It is small, maybe between a quarter centimeter in diameter. It is not all that solid and gives a bit when I push on it. It rolls around a bit. What could it be? The thing itself does not hurt, but the bone around it aches a little.

It's a wart. Go to a doctor.

I meant to say it is UNDER the skin. Warts grow on the skin.
Definitely not a wart. Looking at my hand you can not tell there is anything there.

I dunno, could be a harmless cyst. Doctors have funny names for the different types that exist, like sebaceous cyst. Some people are more prone to developing them late in life than others.

Matt, you are going to see a doctor, right?
Balducci is right: it is most probably a harmless cyst. I have insomnia tonight, and I hope y'all feel sorry for me. It is 4:16 AM, and I have to work tomorrow. But I can't sleep. |

When I was your age I just cut things off that appeared that shouldn't be there. Now man up and start hacking. I suggest an exacto blade or razor blade.
Hey! I had a sebaceous cyst in my ear! I finally had to have it surgically removed (okay, they removed it while I was have nose surgery), maybe I should look up what it was. Do note I use to try to squeeze it out myself and poke it with a needle but too hard to get the whole thing. |

Ha ha.
I don't think I am going to go cutting anything off, in this case 'out'. I'd like to find out better what the thing is, before taking any measures (the right kind, involving a doctor.)

I had one of those sebaceous cyst thingies on my shoulder some years back. It didn't bother me for years, until it finally got infected and started stinking a bit. At that point I had to have it taken out. Which was quite a trip, actually. Sitting in a doctor's office on the examining table carrying on a conversation with him, while he's digging into my shoulder with a blade.

I looked up the sebaceous cyst, it does not sound like that.
I found ganglion cyst, which sounds more like it. The ache from pressure being applied does not feel bad. I am more worried about it affecting my performing magic more than anything.

Nice Balducci! I'd poke my ear lobe with a pin and squeeze hard and it would blow puss all over the place and smelllll! It would at times get the size of a small tomato and pain killers won't work so the doc would get me in a headlock and cut that ear open with a razor, it hurt so good cuz the pressure was worse than the cut.
Matts lack of self surgery makes me realize evolution is a load of BS because if it was everyone under 25 would have genitals like a Ken doll. |

Maybe kids today are different, but when I was your age, the lumpy thing at the end of a joint was called a roach clip.

That's only because the word pot holder was already taken.
I have one in my ear. Went to the Dr. and he told me to stop squezzing it. I did and it's went down a little. I still have one lobe that is bigger than the other. Go to the Dr. and be sure to tell us what he said. I said Dr. Mr. M.D. |
