I'm offended that you capitalized "And".

I just received a 'Happy Holidays and New Year' card from the local Muslim temple. (I don't know how I got on their mailing list.) Inside the card, it wished peace upon Moses and Jesus.

Which is more than most Christmas cards these days do.

Well, Merry Christmas to you all.

Well yeah. But doesn't that make sense given the traditions of Islam? Both those people, and others, are considered prophets in the Islamic faith. It wasn't just a "shout out" to other religions.

Or was the point that most Christmas or Holiday cards don't even bother to mention Jesus or Moses?

I was interested by what balducci said, but I wasn't sure I was reading it correctly. In any event there isn't anything to argue or be bothered about by the post, I was just curious.

Balducci thinks I pick on him, and Eisengrim accuses me of stalking him. I'm bending over backwards to make it clear I'm not starting anything nor am I picking on anyone. That's what we've come to now because of all the whining around here.

Don't worry about it. It's definitely not important.

Amazon.com is doing a 12-day long promotion of specials in their store.

When it began, they called it "The 12 Days of Holiday" in their U.S. store, without the word "Christmas" being seen anywhere on their U.S. site (although Amazon in UK, Germany and France seemed to have no problem using the word).

They got mail on a huge scale! People were calling, cancelling order, and even full accounts. The attitude of most people who wrote in was along the lines of, "Sorry, but I'm a big believer in Christmas. I wouldn't want to offend those of you at Amazon, so I'll be taking my business elsewhere, and mentioning to others who love and respect Christmas that they should avoid Amazon! I'm sorry to hear you hate Christmas. Good-bye!"

By the 2nd day of the promotion, its name was changed without comment to "12 Days of Christmas".

Being from Washington State I am now obligated to say

Reasons Greetings

Or as the sign in our Capital Rotunda says

At this season of the winter solstice may reason prevail.

There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world.

But what the heck

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

After all let us not forget the reason for the season

We celebrate the birth of a man who revealed an inner truth which brought joy to millions. Astounded the world with his control over nature. Changed History Forever.

I was going to do an over/under on when this got deleted but it has already surpassed by expectations.

A wise christian man once told me "you may be the only Bible people ever read, so just act right and be the example". Hmm pretty much a good idea. Whatever religion you are is just a name over the door. It didn't get you where you are, and it darn sure ain't getting you where you are going.

My wife ran into Wal-Mart with $20 and no purse. Was going to get $22 in items plus a ream of paper not in the mix yet. She said to the clerk, I am waiting to see the total to see if it is enough. Well while figuring out what to put back, and come back later for, the clerk reached into her pocket, paid the difference and simply said "God bless" and sent my wife on her way.

If a belief in a God figure can inspire this sort of behavior in people, then believe in Him. This is what the season, at least in Branson brings out in people. I think that is great and want it year round.

If however a belief in a God figure causes you to judge, hate, segregate, war, fight, shun, and so forth, then I think you need a new God figure.

Rant over, Merry Christmas.

In my Christmas shows, I instruct the families to say the magic word: "Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukuh, Happy Dawali, Happy Winter Solstice ... how about we just say Abracadabra?" Smile

I am one of the unemployed and have one company that has not yet sent me a rejection letter so I call them every month and a half to let them know that I'm still here. I called the HR manager yesterday and wished her a Merry Christmas and then said "oh wait...you are an HR person....Happy Holidays!" she laughed and said Merry Christmas will work. I'm number one on the interview list if I don't starve or freeze this Winter!

Oh...Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a kickin' Kwanza, or nothing at all!
