I know it seems like a small problem, but it is something I use all the time, especially when editing. Is there an "alt" code (ie alt key plus number on the keypad) that will produce an "em" dash, which is a dash as long as two hyphens? This is the kind of dash that has the same sort of meaning as a colon, not a short one like a hyphen/minus sign. I can paste one in from the Windows "character map" utility, but I have tried every alt code from 127 to 256 and can't reproduce it that way. Thanks...

You're in luck — sort of — the charmap for the Verdana font (the font in use here in the posts) has an em dash. — — —
It says the keystroke is Alt+0151 but that doesn't work here — I tried it. — |

- <--- single dash.
— <---Alt+0151 dash. Mary, it works on my machine. Now to see how it works once I've posted it. Ahhh...success!

D'oh! I never tried the leading '0', just the ALT + 151 combination. I haven't needed the '0' to get other characters. But here is ALT + 0151: — . Yep, that works, thanks Mary and Steven!
