I finally figured out how to edit and burn movies to dvd. I am now going to try posting some video on my website.

I wanted to ask, what type of files would work best for a website? AVI or MPEGS? (My website was created with Frontpage.) Also, should I upload them onto my website or put them on Youtube and then have a link to my website? Thanks!

Upload it on your website. I suggest .MOV (Quicktime) and .WMV (Windows Media Video)they are both good and work well.

I would say youtube.

Upload the highest quality video you can that is under 15 mb if it is a 3 minute video. A high quality video that is short is going to constantly stop to buffer.

James,

Your video is most likely fullscreen.

You need a program that will compress/shrink the video into a smaller size for internet.

The file formats .mov (Quicktime, .flv (flash) and .wmv (Windows Media Video) will do the trick. I recommend either mov or flv.

Some firewalls will block the plugins that download so a browser can stream the video. A direct download will solve that problem.

Then you need the html code and plugins to be able to stream the video from your webpage. Some html editors will automatically generate it for you others won't.

The easiest solution is Youtube.

You can place youtube videos directly on your site.

"What he said!"

You beat me to it! I'd agree with every sentence G0thike said. The only thing I'd add is that I'd opt for a "progressive download" instead of download or streaming. The progressive download blends the best of both worlds. Quicktime and FLV both do this, and as stated, I agree both are great formats.

Hmmm... step 3 is "grin"?

Seriously Scott.

Thanks for these simple steps. The problem is that I am scared to paste "anything" into my hmtl of my site.

I use dreamweaver ("sort of"). Ideally, I would like the photo from Youttue to appear on my site with the link beneath.

Any final tips for a non-techy magician?

You can view the clip on youtube here:

Below is the embedded code:

BTW: Very impressive videoclips on the Brian Eslick site.

Did you create that site Scott?

If so, great job.

http://www.reelsinmotion.com/

Brian's Hypnosis show looks top notch.

And his/your (?) client list certainly speaks well for his (your?) digital /creative work.

Congratulations!

Jonathan,

Thanks for the kind words on both the video clips and site design. Yes, I actually did both the videos and the Reels in Motion site design.

As far as the link setup like you want, just take a screen capture or a picture you want to use as a picture like you descibe, then place the code:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e66NYBeWTVM">Watch Video</a>

below the image, or even include the image to click on. You can do that as follows:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e66NYBeWTVM">
<img src="http://yoursite.com/picture.jpg" border="0">
<br>
Watch Video
</a>

That should do it. Then they can click the link or the picture to go to your video on YouTube!

Hope that works! By the way, your show has a very turn of the century feel. I love it.

Thanks Scott.

Hope to have the courage to try this application. Seems clear from what you wrote.

As for our Youtube video clip having a turn of the century look... Smile

I don't know what you're talking about?

We were going for a futuristic look! ...Unfortunately, we can't help it if history repeats itself!!! Smile
