After much soul searching about a signature, I decided not to have one.

I also use the joker box but with an added flash - throw the red ball up and catch it in the box at the same moment you open the box and blow out the red silk - it should appear very continuous and serves as a grand finale to the trick...........

Here's an idea, stick a zombie gimmick in the ball, float it, then do a zombie ball vanish.

Robert - I really like the throwing the ball up and catching it but do you always get a direct hit? I would have thought the lightness of the balls and the small opening would give you problems?

It just takes practice - you'll get it 99% of the time. Moreover, now I do the trick with balls that bounce and the finale is when I bounce the red ball on the floor, it bounces high and I catch it in the Joker box and then blow out the red silk. The bouncing on the floor is unexpected, as is the rest of it and you end on a nice physical move like this - always gets aahhhs and claps......

Anyone?

Ok, here's another question: I heard that Mak has had Strat-O-Sphere backordered for a while because of paint issues. Any truth to this?

I seem to be on a continuous quest for balls for various effects - you just have to find the ones right for you...........

Hi Regan.
Take a look at Practical Magic Stratospheres.
I have mine for about 5 months now, and it's a beauty. Very well made.

Check out the balls at this link:

http://www.jugglingstore.com/products/balls.html

There's a good selection at that site, and you can order the balls individually in the size and colors you want. Needless to say, they're great for juggling.

Thanks Ricky. Their model really does look nice. I wish they had a shop in the U.S.

Max,
Which of those balls would you suggest? Is one a better fit for the SOS, or are they pretty much the same?

I purchased the 72 mm Mister Babache MB stage balls, which are a little smaller than the standard Stratosphere balls, therefore stack not quite as straight (but straight enough) in the tube. They're great for juggling. However, they're also heavier then the Stratosphere balls, so you'll have to bend the gimmick a little so it holds without releasing accidentally. Also, you'll probably want to cover the gimmick and the metal ring on the base in felt, as they can dig into the soft rubber. Measure your tube before ordering - if you can fit the 80mm balls, you might want to go with those.

Hi Regan.
Check to see if Hocus Pocus can get stock from Practical Magic.
You can also deal direct with Practical Magic, they are wonderful people to deal with.
This one is really the cream of Stratospheres.

For Stratosphere I use sponge balls (3") instead of the plastic balls that come with it. I also use the box. When I open it the red ball has changed to another color (blue or orange). This works well for me.
