GE Came out with a new lightbulb:
http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/11/ge-fr......of-ugly/ Could we show a standard clear bulb, and a standard compact fluorescent bulb and "magically" combine them with this bulb being the result? Just a thought... it will impress until this new bulb becomes common place... Good idea? bad idea? sdmagic |

Maybe not. The guy in the video is holding a clear prototype. Production bulbs will be frosted. BUMMER! Now if we could just get a hold of some of those prototypes!

Possibly it wont be frosted... the fluro tube is a powder coated frostlike light.. if they frost the secondary glass, it will reduce the light emmission a great deal and not be "as green"... we may luck out and see it be as is on the page.

Why are they even putting it in a standard type bulb? I don't get it.

Because one guy bet another he couldn't put a fluorescent bulb inside a standard glass housing. <grin>
