Yes, my avatar was created in Photoshop using photoshop techniques.
For photo manipulation, editing, compositing and retouching, nothing beats Photoshop. It handles that stuff fantastically. It is a very robust application. There just is a heavy learning curve to be able to utilize all the features Photoshop gives to you. Kyle

If you like Photoshop's capabilities, but don't care for the price, GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is an excellent free alternative!

Unfortunately ALT works no longer for zoom, it has been replaced by a zoom toolbar. Maybe handy to others but personally it is a step backward.

I picked up the complete version of Photoshop Elements 7 for $49 at Costco.
It does virtually everything that Photoshop CS4 does provided you don't require the professional printing capabilities and fine tuning of images via Channels that a professional studio would require. |
