"This does not mean that all magic shows are great. They aren't. Let me point, for example, to Criss Angel and Cirque du Soleil: Believe. I made it forty minutes into that travesty before practically running from the theatre, laughing hysterically at the fact that performers dressed as rabbits had just eaten Angel's burnt, dismembered corpse. I am not kidding. That really happened. If you want to see Criss Angel throw stunned-looking doves at the ground, then by all means, head on over to the Luxor. And I say this knowing the great work that Angel has done for skepticism. I'm sorry, Criss, if you are reading this. The show just sucks. And for God's sake, leave the dove work to Lance Burton."

I didn't see it, mind you, but the image of rabbits eating a magician's charred and dismembered corpse sounds pretty interesting to me.

Well you have to give credit for an honest review at least.

Seems to me they could turn off the lights at any given time and nobody would care.

Did you guys see this?

Mike Weatherford gave “Special” status to Believe in his 2008 Top 10 Vegas Shows column today saying, “Criss Angel Believe” still deserves a special honor — Why not? These are made-up anyway — for providing the year’s most dramatic narrative arc: an $80 million-plus train wreck that snapped Cirque du Soleil’s five-show Vegas winning streak and may still prove to be beyond fixing.”

I suspect the only question is more "when" than "if" now.

I would like to see a video of his original Mindfreak show that played in NY before his TV show. I saw a few short clips on one of the magic or magic history shows a couple of years back. From what I remember it was awesome. Including some great bird work and very creative costumed creatures. It blew me away and made me an instant fan. He then lost me with his TV show and celebrerty crap, but keeps my respect because of what I did see in those short clips years ago.

Are there any New Yorkers that saw the live show? How long did it run? Was it good?

And so, my plan to destroy the mirthless, humorless Cirque du Soleil has been set in motion.

To be honest, from what I've heard and seen (from the video clips) angels NY shows wasnt that good. prety much the 1st and 2nd season of his show, but done on stage. he did his big sawing trick, his flash bomb sub trunk (but he used a smoke screen back then) probibly that version of interlude he called Scarecrow (i really don't like that one much) did some thing with a robot asembled onstage that comes alive and turns into criss, lots of extras dressed in wierd costumes because he was "goth" then. not sure if he wall on walls or not.

Naw the key is to just keep throwing out dates, and complaining and wishing for bad things and just claim victory when he self destructs.

I wouldn't criticize Angel on this Website, you might get suspended.

Remember, regardless of my opinions or the opinions of Mark Wilson or many of the magicians here at the Café and around the world, there are still "reputable" long- time Café members who staunchly deny that Angel has ever used editing or camera trickery in his tv show.

Sincerely, Magicfish
