I think you misrepresent the position they have taken.

Now Now, Danny, no need to be harsh. How am I misrepresenting what they said? Namely, that Angel doesn't use any editing or camera trickery.

I actually think the bunnies eating CA's charred and dismembered corpse sounds awesome. Guess it's just me.

How was my question harsh? I don't think there are very well established members of the Café' telling you these things. I think things you attribute to camera tricks are not and this is where your confussion lies.

I believe some very established members of the Café have stated that anything on Mindfreak can be done without camera tricks. Whether they are or aren't on the show I couldn't say. But they don't have to be.
In Bill Palmers section he asked anyone to cite an example of something that they knew for a fact couldn't be done without camera tricks. I don't think anyone ever took him up on it.

David Blaine was the main topic, but CA is included if you read the whole thing.

I just sent him to very clear examples so we'll see what the response is!

Okay, so you can show how it could be done with cameras. Saw that on YouTube months ago, every vid showing a different possible method. I still don't see any proof that it couldn't be done without the cameras, only that it could be done with them.
As far as I can tell, most of CA's big illusions are copies of David Copperfield ones with minor modifications. Copperfield even levitated better.
(No I won't talk about method. Ever. Anywhere. Don't ask.)
Don't get me wrong here, I am not defending the show. I think art is subject to taste and not everybody likes the same things.
After all, I couldn't stand the film "The Wrestler" but everybody tells me it's great, so it must be.
Likewise, I don't care for either CA or DC, but I won't tell anyone else not to like them.

I'm not really sure what the comment is. You can play the same song on a piano or a sequencer on a computer... but if you're claiming to be a piano player, shouldn't you actually be able to play it on a piano if requested?

Milli Vanilli claimed to be singers but it was actually people behind the scenes assembling things that didn't exist in reality to create the impression they were doing things they didn't really do. That's why they got busted.

I'm not sure anyone is claiming there isn't some way to do every trick Criss has done on television in real life using some method but would it be the same? No. Does he cheat every effect? Of course not but many feel he's cheated enough to destroy a lot of credibility to the degree that people write off every effect as a "camera trick" whether it is or not. The perception of many laymen is that all he does are camera tricks. This isn't really valid at all, but again they don't know where he draws the line.

For all of his big effects that some write off as camera tricks (for lack of a better term) why isn't he doing them live? He has the perfect forum ... his own Vegas Show! He had the budget to create anything he wanted on stage.

Many in the magic community have deduced that he didn't do these effects live because they can't be done live in a real world situation.

I would LOVE to see him walk between the Luxor and the MGM in the air. If he could do that as he claimed... wouldn't that be a KILLER PR stunt that could resurrect his show? What about bringing in a few news reporters to walk on water while they filmed it live for the news. They could even be in the water and swim under his feet to prove it was legit like the spectators in the video. What a PR goldmine that could be for the show.

Why isn't there any news footage of him levitating in the beam of light over the Luxor? All it would take was a few phone calls and every local crew (and maybe even a few national ones) would have had cameras there covering it. He could have generated MUCH more publicity than just showing it on Mindfreak.

Maybe... just maybe... the reason why he hasn't done that is because he can't.

Time will tell I guess!

The press was invited. Norm Clarke reported in his Vegas Confidential LVRJ column that the platform Criss was standing on would be CGI'd out for broadcast. It turned out to a photo op, not news, so there was nothing to report.
