The First Annual Escape Artist Convention held in conjunction with the Crossroads of America Antique Padlock Show was great! I had a wonderful time. It had the typical convention atmosphere...staying up way too late and getting up way too early. I learned lots of stuff...mainly how many people can actually fit into one hotel room. I saw lots of old friends and made lots of new friends. Although, I think I may be a little bit more corrupted after the roommates I had!!

I'm sorry I couldn't make it. Hopefully I'll see you all next year!

Indeed the First Annual Escape Artist Convention was a huge success and one of those, do not miss events. The expertise in that was both there and shared among each other was priceless. Mark and Sheila Cannon are such a class act and they did a great job of orchestrating this event. It was great to see Margarette again. We also had the pleasure of meeting Extreme Shawn Ness and his wife Christine. We were very honored to be selected as the performers for the convention and we cherish the friendships we made and renewed while there.

To everyone at the convention, I had a great time finally being able to meet you all and talk.
Kevin and Kristen thank you for letting us hang out at your house and for the show. Like I told you I have been desensitized to dangerous escapes for a while but you guys made me jump. Kevin if you would like, I came up with another idea for fear three. Now you just need to improve on your "clipping," too bad I missed Kevin getting Elliot, by the way those guys got me once. Thank you to everyone who came out and bought from the dealers, without your support a lot of our ideas would go to the grave with us. Anyone still want a "Brinks"? I got a few left.

I had a wonderful time at the convention. One thing that really stuck out for me was the quality of people; it seemed that everywhere you turned, you found a life long friend, even though you had never met before.
One of the antique lock dealers made a comment that stuck with me: "We don't come here to make money; we come here to make friends." I'm pleased to say I've made many new friends. --- Guy |

Actually, Shawn, now that you mention it, is that Cobb protoype for sale? I'd really be interested in that!! It was really cute!
I enjoyed finally getting to meet Shawn and the other new friends I made, and seeing my old friends again! And for once, I didn't have to worry about lecherous old men hitting on me, although, I may have been doing some of the hitting myself on a couple of the guys there (I don't think they minded, though). It was all a lot of fun, and I'm already counting down the days till the next one! I'll bring more money next time, though. Of course, in talking with people about the convention afterwards, I thought it was funny....here I am trying to be a success in the escape business, and I'll probably be remembered for my chocolate chip cookies and that little bit I did with the balloon! If you really want it Margarette it is yours. You'd need to glue the chain into the cob's as I just drilled the hole and pushed them in.
I have no real use for it and hopfully will be able to come up with some more bit's for the next convention. I did not want to eat your cookies watching all the addict's going at them BUT I broke down Sat. night, pretty good stuff. Sorry I didn't catch who you were Friday, your Café picture does not do you justice. For those who did not make it this year, you better start planning for next years, I hope to be there. I have an hour and a half of video footage both of the lock show and escape demo's (NOT of Kristens escape or Ian's lecture) and I will have my camera film back by Sat. I got step by step shots of Kristen's escape as I was right in front on the floor. X

I was just kidding, Shawn, but it was a really cute idea! I also liked your method of escape from a Bean Giant.
You know, someone actually teased me about putting some additional "stuff" in my cookies. I really brought that many as sort of a joke, but I figured there would be a good dent made in them...and there was...only three left after all was said and done! I am disappointed though that Ian didn't try my redneck appetizer I brought for him to try. If I could try that vegemite stuff, he could at least try what I brought for him! Now, at the end, I did get him to try a moon pie (redneck dessert), but that wasn't the same caliber of stuff as the vegemite. Anyone who was at Kevin and Kristen's house Friday night was well aware of when I tried that! I was quite vocal in how nasty it is! I thought Fred was gonna bust a gut at my reaction. It was only afterwards that I was told that stuff "would put hair on your chest". Like that's what I really need! But, it was all in fun...and I had fun! Margarette
