My DVD arrived and I have just finished my first viewing. I have had the book DMF for a few years as I was lucky enough to find a first edition for sale, and it has been my all time favourite book on card magic so I was eagerly awaiting this DVD.
Fist off the production is great. Really slick and stylish with a cool intro. Not necessarily important for the magic but I enjoy it! And I don't think they have gone over the top with the theme this time. Dave Forrest in a gas mask or Liam Montier tied up with a sack over his head for example! This time it's just the guys in white shirts and black ties, and at the end of each performance you hear the sound of a gun being cocked, shot and then the sound of the bullet casing falling to the floor. Hey this really is killer magic! But I have to admit on some of the killer tricks on this set I found myself making a gun with my hand and mock shooting at the telly in time with the sound effect at the end of each performance! I loved this DVD. Yes if you own DMF then there isn't a lot on here you haven't seen before but it's great to see John perform these effects and hear his thoughts on the short interview sections that are scattered throughout the DVDs. For those that already have DMF the new tricks are really good. I don't want to spoil to much for you but I really liked "Einstein Overkill" and "Counterpunch" Bannon's thinking is very clever and he prefers to layer ideas rather than use lots of sleights and these tricks will not only deliver a knock out punch to your audience they will also give you fingers a break as this is not knuckle busting card magic. So what didn't I like about the DVD? Well not much really, I sometimes find the sterile settings for the performances doesn't always do the effects justice. I would have loved to see footage of JB performing some of this stuff in a live setting or at a convention etc but that's a small point and the lovely model Sammie Pennington is much easier on the eyes than Dave in a gas mask!! My rating. If you don't own DMF then it's a 10 out of 10. If you already own all his other books then I would still give this a solid 8/10, definitely worth picking up if you are a fan. Great job from BBM and Bannon is the king of cool! Roll on Cardzilla

I thoroughly enjoyed the DVDs plus the extra material included in the package. I had a couple issues with the first effect ("Dead Reckoning"), but resolved them nicely. If anyone would like to discuss these issues, just PM me.
There are a couple of self-working marvels on these DVDs! Thanks, DK |

Same from here. The content of this DVD-set is highly recommended. But don't expect to much entertainment from John Bannon. Like in previous Bannon videos, his performances are pretty boring, but that's his style.

The newly named "Bannon Triumph" is, IMO, the best version of Triumph because you do shuffles face up and face down. The cards do right themselves for the incredible revelation.
The rest of the DVD has some interesting material, but not anything I would use. They aren't bad as John is an extremely talented creator. I just didn't see anything earth shattering to learn ( except for the Triumph effect iof you don't have John's earlier work ). Just for the sake of reference, the first 3 Ammar Easy To master Card Miracles ( they are miracles, they are NOT easy ) contain classics that have survived for a reason. The Bullets DVD set, IMO, doesn't have , except for the previously released Triumph routine, anything that will become classics. I love John's Fractal series, but I didn't see any of those type of effects on the set. Maybe I was expecting that. I'm not saying don't get Bullets. I like seeing John work, so I enjoyed it from that standpoint.

Review King,
I very much respect your opinions, but I would say that the "no sleights" tricks, "Power of Poker" and "Origami Prediction" will find their way into many a "mental magician's" repertoire, and for good reason. I can't believe you would never use the Duvivier handling of the Jennings-Goodwin move! For many, Bannon's description (in his "Four Faces North," not his Triumph routine) will be their first introduction to this outstanding Triumph display. While I agree that I would never use "Dead Reckoning" as described, I believe that it could be performed impromptu to good effect. For those who enjoy material from Simon Aronson and David Soloman, Bannon's latest release will be sure to please! DK |

If you saw how poor my skills are, you wouldn't doubt my not using the Duvivier handling of the Jennings/Goodwin move.
I'm sure many will enjoy the set.

I had just made a spectacular review and voila the page refreshed itself. I'll see if I remember some of the things I wrote.
There are some routines which I really liked. Power of Poker effect- I really liked this routine although I suggest that it is performed for real lovers of poker so they can understand the result clearly. Super easy. Love it. No force in the hands, what else could you ask for? Daley trick- Wow, I've never really performed this because I just never really saw the point to this. Bannon's presentation really hits hard with the spectator. I loved this one. The sleight is dead easy. Counterpunch- certainly not really my favorite of the dvd but it is quite good. People don't lie when they say that this trick is performed on an off-beat. I read this trick on Magic magazine I believe and I think it had a diff. presentation not sure. I really passed it since it did not seem so good. When I saw this on DVD I realize how nicely this trick plays out. Love it. Although the triumph that follows the routine in my opinion is not really that strong or make sense with the last trick. Origami prediction-LOVE IT. This is great, there is a real kicker at the end that hits hard. I prefer to leave this for the special occasions when you have the complete attention of spectators and quite some table space. Not something you would perform always, but you could if you had table space. You could perform this pretty much anywhere if you have a pen and paper. There is an order of cards that you have to remember but it's really only suits no value. Einstein Overkill- Neat trick. I'm not sure if spectators get to fully appreciate the impact of this trick. If anyone has performed this to spectators let me know how this goes. I like the final kicker which is great. I would perform this preferably to a magician. The False cut is very nice easy false cut. Not to flashy not to boring. Will use it. Two routines I did not like; First one is dawn patrol. I can faro face down cards quite easily but the problem is placing the face-up pairs to be faroed in with the cards. When I perform the faro instead of one card being sandwhiched between the two pairs two cards get shuffled there. I hope someone can help me with that. The assemblies I did not care for since I already have one (Richard Sanders show) which I am quite happy with. Although his ideas are really cool and the last phase could be considered a magician fooler. Also, I would have preferred that the interview be a complete long interview. I understand that bbm was trying to make it so whatever Bannon was talking about it was relevant to the trick just presented which was a nice angle but a long interview is much preferred. Well, in conclusion, Bannon's magic in my opinion has to be seen to be appreciated completely. I have his books which I love to death but seeing Bannon on video I can appreciate his magic more. His timing, rhythm and presentation. With Bannon I just experienced true magic, even with the method I was baffled. PS. Sammie is a very pretty lady. BBM should include her in more dvd's. If you are still on the fence don't worry you won't lose your money Ricky |

However I have to disagree on the inclusion of Sammie as the sole spectator. I much prefer a group of spectators in real world settings, like the Michael Vincent, Paul Gordon and Richard Osterlind DVD'S. I'm sure she is lovely but found her reactions quite stilted and she appears quite intimidated by having the camera on her and the obvious expectation on her to provide a response...any response...kind of subdued the effects for me. I much prefer group performances with a 'real world' natural response to the effect. Apart from a couple of minor gripes I did enjoy the set though and it was great to see John perform. Regards to all. Matt |

Bannon is simply brilliant!
All of his stuff on this DVD is impossible to figure out to a laymen and a lot of Magicians as well. Well thought out and designed to kill. John |

I was able to perform Power of Poker, the Ace Assembly, and Dawn Patrol the first time after studying the explanations. Really amazed me that they could be that easy!
My only personal complaint is that the list for the cards for Dead Reckoning were not on the first DVD and that it was not on either one as a txt or pdf file that you could print out. Other than that, I really liked this DVD set at $35 for two disks, a real bargain right now. Got it for myself for a Christmas & birthday present, since both are celebrated in the same week.

These dvd's are great. I wondered how the assemblies would play,so I learnt the 3 of them, and have now performed them a few times, and the reactions are , kind of like a delayed bang, that keeps getting louder with each phase of the 3 tricks. they are different, and a real pleasure to perform, fun routines.

I just got it recently and I have to say it's really good! I have Bannon's Smoke and Mirrors as well as his DMF and watching this DVD made me realize I was doing the elias shift wrong the entire time! Just that one little change made my elias shift a lot nicer and was worth the price of the DVD for me.
