Hi! Im 16 and a girl so I guess I may be of some use to this post. I really agree with what you guys have been saying. We girlies like to be treated with respect and in an adult manner. I personaly find that mentalism is amazing for people of my age group. Especially lots of "hands on things" as we like to join in. Things like palm reading will go well. So will mentalism magic. Oh and remember we like to think we're grown up (:bubbly:) so just humor us for a while hope this helps oh and |

Don't want to make you any more nervous but..... it's a 16 year old girls party and it's likely there will be 16 year old boys there too. Be prepared for loud teenage lads.
I think women of all ages are a pleasure to perform for and I have only ever had trouble from males. |

"I have only ever had trouble from males. " There's plenty of time, Wesley, you will. lol. re; "it's a 16 year old girls party and it's likely there will be 16 year old boys there too." Not neccessarily in the U.S.A Wesley. I think they have all girl sweet sixteen parties or something. I'm sure Docc Hilford had a video on that type of act. Paul. |

Well, it seems that all are agreed that treating them like adults is a good idea - and it is.
This is a market segment that I work for a lot. Sweet-16 parties are very popular in the North Shore (read: ritzy) area of Chicagoland and the money is pretty good as well. I usually get hired as a stage hypnotist for these venues and that can be a bit daunting as you usually only have about 40 people to work with, a much smaller corwd than most stage hypnotists are happy with. But, when hired to do magic, the real issue you have to overcome is the "oh gawd! We've got Uncle Bunky doing bunny rabbit tricks - this is going to suck!" attitude. Your first effect should be strong and as far away from a cutsey-poo approach as you can possibly get. The young lady who mentioned mentalism is right on, as well. Teen ladies LOVE to have their minds read and their fortunes told. At one party I used a Tarot deck and a Hindu shuffle force of the bottom card on THIRTY girls, one after another, each getting a different card and a short reading based on that card. They NEVER twigged to the fact that I was forcing the glimpsed card and were amazed that I could "get" the card without looking at it on the last girl. I also insured that she got the Knight of Cups - insuring an interesting relationship for that year. As she had just broken up with her last boyfriend (which I knew from talking to her Mom ahead of time), this set REALLY well for her! Some of the strongest responses you will ever get will be for that sort of thing. Bottom line - INVOLVE them to the greatest extent you can, either directly or as part of a group participation bit. Kind regards, Lee Darrow, C.Ht.
