When I first started magic there were tricks you could buy in any department store, I believe the company was Hasbro, the 'Magic Works' tricks. There was a mail in trick with UPC's you could get called the Mystery of the Dark Stranger. I was currious to know if anyone here know's what I'm talking about, and if so, if there is a variation of this trick in exsitince. Thank you (it was a packet trick with a sleeve that had a black back and a red see through front just in case someone feels it doesn't belong here).

The trick it's self seems similar to the 'Unusual Suspects' that tenyo makes, but this one had one 'stranger' and 3-4 landscape cards. I remember the stranger's hat was cut out to show the color of the landscape cards through, but I'll be ***ed I can't remember the complete effect.

I don't want to re-write this, and I'm sure nobody else does either. (I apoligize for using the D word, I didn't think it would be censored in that context)

Tenyo's Magic Paint and Pavel's Circlation (sometimes listed as Squarecirlces) use a similar principle. Magic Paint may not be available. Circlation has been knocked off several times but I don't know what it is being called.

I doubt anyone is still interested in this old thread, but I actually found this very "trick" in one of my storage boxes. The edition that I have, which is exactly as described by Demonbrn, indicates a 1994 copywright by Milton Bradley company.

Someone is still interested...

Back then, I was 11 years old, and I saved my UPC's for this effect. A lot of lawn-mowing and chore money was spent on MW items, to "earn" this special item (via snail mail). At first when I received it, I was disappointed because I expected something mechanical. After practicing and showing my friends and family, I fell in LOVE with it (and the surprise ending). Unfortunately, I ended up selling my MagicWorks stuff over 15 years ago, and now I want to buy my old collection back. I guess it's back to mowing lawns...

Wanna sell it? I'd be interested. Smile
