My first job out of high school was in a shop that made waterbed frames. I had one for many years, but finally gave it up. They're cool, but I doubt if I'd ever go back.

Did the government know you had one? Maybe Pierre had one, and many other secrets.
Seriously though, was it comfier than a regular bed? I want to put one in a spare room when I get a house, and sleep in alternative beds. I can imagine your whole body shakes for ages when you roll over and stuff. |

I had one years back. Not worth the maintenance, weight, potential damage. The heat is nice, but kinda like sleeping on a griddle.

Maybe I should just sleep in the bath.

I did that years back. Your skin turns pale and falls off in sheets. Water toxicity shuts down your liver. Probably wouldn't do it again.

I got rid of mine when I realised it was impractical to wear either stiletto shoes or spurs.

They are comfortable, but a bit of a pain with regard to maintenance. You cannot move them without draining them, for example. Also, a cat can and will puncture the mattress given the chance.
And yes, the state kept out of my waterbed. John

I had a very nice and expensive waveless one that my wife bought ten seconds after hearing me say on the phone "If you want a new matress fine but you better not buy a @$@() waterbed". I, being a lard arse, couldn't get out of the dang thing w/out hurting myself. When I moved a couple years ago I got so angry at trying to get a pump to empty it I left the bed, full of water, in the frame which I liked, in the house for the new owners to have as a gift. If I had a knife I'd have sliced it up. My wife will never again buy a waterbed or they'll find her in it.

The final straw for me was when we had a cyclone (hurricane to you foreign types) bearing down on us and I tried to follow the official advice and place my mattress against the plate glass doors to prevent injury from flying glass.

Maybe when I'm old and incontinent I won't even have to pay for a water bed.

I bought my wife a waterbed but we drifted apart.
One night we left the electric blanket switched on, we woke up poached.
