Hey Everyone
Im looking for a wand, after 15 years with out one I want one. I don't want to spend a lot like 50. I like carbon fiber look does a want like this exist, or a black one with chrome tips. I see a lot of wand online but no close-up pictures, I want to see details. What are your thoughts. Jeremy |

Hi Jeremy -
If you like the look of a black wand with silver tips, I would highly recommend the Mercury Wand by Michael Ammar. Nice weight and spins like a dream. The price is right too! http://www.ammarmagic.net/mercury-wand.html Hope this helps, dc

Check out the wands at Tabman Tables. Their wands are very high quality, and costumer service is amazing!

I was going to buy one from him, and it was in the range of $80. But that might be just for the kind of wand I was looking for.

I had a high quality wooden coat hanger with a 16 inch rounded wooden strut along the bottom - I took the piece of wood - bought 2 cheep (white) metalic pens - cut the pen lids down to size and stuck them on the ends - it is a great weight , looks amazing (reeks of quality) and sounds great hitting my jumbo street cups.
so its not always nessacary to spend a lot- |

Timbale sticks are good. (I.e., drum sticks without beads at the end.) They can be wrapped with tape (a la Gazzo), painted, or left alone.
I've also used a dowel rod, maybe 1/2 or 5/8 in diameter. I got small brass rods (about 1/8 inch), cut the rods to 2 equal lengths, drilled holes in each end of the dowel, and put the rods in there. The rods gave nice extra weight on the ends, which added momentum to wand-spin moves. |

The tape on Timbale sticks also helps against breakage. I saw Gazzo using one of his long after it had been broken and if it wasn't for showing us how it flexed in one spot, nobody would have known.
It's really cheap insurance if you break one during a show.

We've made dice stacking cups with a carbon fiber look to them. I suppose we could do the same thing to a wand like the Ammar wand.

Ok here is the wand I went with. I had Ray from Tabman Tables custom make one. 14" Ebony with bullet shell tips in chrome.

That's a beautiful wand, Jeremy!
I bought two from Ray at Tabman, both walnut with copper and brass tips. You can't go past the price there, very good value. I've just ordered a custom-made 16" ebony with silver tips from Owen. Will post about it when it arrives. Geoffrey

I like it. what are those silver rings in the middle for? tabman wands are the only ones I see like that. is it purely decoration? nice choice.

Yes Frank the rings are just for decoration. Ray is a class act. I wish I had money for one of his tables.

Frank, the rings in the middle are from an idea from an Okito wand, usually just one ring. Purely decoration. That's where Jeremy wanted them. I try to give the customer what they want.
Jeremy, I have some shorter aluminum bullet casings in. Can be polished up to a nice shine. As far as tables go, draw up something you might be interested in as I usually undercharge for the first one I make. I then adjust the prices for future models. Thanks for your kind words. Ray

If you're feeling creative you can go to the hard wear store and get a dowel rod and then paint and finish your own.
