I occasionally get the urge to blow the dust off some of the props of my youth, and aspire to update them in some way. (Not modify entirely, but personalize.)
Recently, I came across my milk pitcher and MAK Magic brilliant lamp. I got to thinking that a milk pitcher is not to common nowadays as far as something a young audience would identify with. Immediately I thought of using a pitcher of Cola, would be easily identifiable, but would not work with the lamp. (What kind of dark bulb would work, and be believable.) So, I came up with the idea of using fruit punch or "Kool-Aid". Of course, using a commercial icon may not be desirable. (Remember Run Monster Run with the Cookie Monster?) Anyway, I thought of using a red bulb in the lamp, and fruit punch in the pitcher. (Okay, red colored water to prevent carpet stains) It would at least taste better than OOM. (Not that I have tried). I'd like to hear some opinions on this before I give it a live trial. I think the effect would work great after a Newspaper tear, and be more modern. Any thoughts? Thanks! Not daring enough? How about after pouring the liquid, the lamp not only goes out, but bursts into flames! Then after putting it out, the liquid is found in the lightbulb? |
