I made a video for you guys on what my classic palm looks like after 8 months of practice. I've been palming 4 at once constantly now for a bit, and when I'm not doing that I'm also palming a coin. I also do key lifts to strengthen the pinky muscle. Is this a terrible classic palm? I thought I saw some improvement from when I first started but it could be my imagination.

Well, thanks! Finally a feel of accomplisment!
It's hard with coin magic because you can go for a very long time without any progress. If it looks good to you , then that's a start! |

Thanks. I can grip the coin very lightly, but the hand appears the same. Also, FT=finger tip?
What do you mean by death? |

Both the contracted pinky and the missing thumb (as Vinny pointed out) are telling on you! HOWEVER..... Kevin my man, you've come a million miles! Keep up the work you are OBVIOUSLY putting in and you'll have a CP to be proud of!

It looks like your getting some good feedback already, but I thought I would add my thoughts to what has already been mentioned. Take another look at your video. Ask yourself this question... If you did not have a coin in CP, would you hold your right hand in that manner? It looks a little unnatural. Perhaps you could have a pencil or small wand to pick up and "make the magic happen". If you can use your right hand in a natural manner holding something, I think you will have a more natural look. You could also let your right hand come to rest in a natural manner on your leg. Also look at how flat you are holding the right hand. Again, if not for the CP, would you force your hand out as flat as you have in the video. You have obviously put a lot of work into your CP, but you should work on holding your hand in a more natural manner.
Another tip I would suggest would be to cover the little move of loading the coin in position for CP with a larger move. I noticed that you were able to load the coin well but then you showed the coin again before doing the toss. The coin is seen in your palm now ready for the CP. Try doing this in one move. Pull the coin into position and toss in one move. This would look like showing a coin at your fingertips, then close your hand and toss. The motion of loading the coin will be masked by the larger motion of tossing the coin. I hope this makes sense. Like others have said, You can tell you have put a lot of practice in and it is getting there. Keep at it. |

I also do key lifts to strengthen the pinky muscle. Could you elaborate on that? Thanks.

So do I...
In my case the best method to develop muscles and ability of natural holding coin in classic palm was holding it almost non-stop during doing my daily routine (including writing, making sandwiches and so on.) According to David Stone. I suggest not to take all of advises told in seminars literally. Some of them are created to vary the whole composition of tricks, explanations and really useful tips I don't say they are wrong! Of course not! But they may fit to some kind of people, not to all. So if one manner disappoints You, try another. Radek

Thanks, STFSticks, for the key/bottle tip. I've noticed that some of the best classic palmers seem to have a little muscle at the base of the hand that pops out like a shelf when flexed. I've wondered if building up a little mass in that area might give the coin more to push against. Holding a coin there for extended periods is good practice, but it seems to be a pretty slow way to recontour the muscle, so the bottle idea sounds like a good supplement. And if David Stone recommends it, it's gotta be gold. His one-coin routine looks like real magic, IMO.

I think you classic palm will improve with time. That's how it was with me. I read about in Bobo's and just kept on playing with it. Now my CP is great! For you I would suggest you work on your transfer, and the timing with it. If you can see any videos of Al Goshman and watch his timing, it's an amazing lesson in transfers and follow through. All and all though, great job!

The actual palm is alright--within the context of a routine it would probably fly. I'd work on the spider vanish and the classic palm vanish though...try to believe that you are actually doing what you purport to do (tossing the coin).

Good progress. If using the Classic as a vanish, I wouldn't have the coin in palm position then turn the hand over, kinda looks obvious, better to close the fingers then turn the hand around and then do your false transfer. Just my 2 cents. Slydini told his students to really do the thing that you want to duplicate, as in put the coin in your hand for real then duplicate the action but retaining the coin. ACT AS IF you really have the coin in the left hand.
