Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has any of there favorite rapid inductions they would like to share. I am fairly new to Hypnosis and I am looking for some easy and effective rapid inductions. The inductions I usually use are usually the boring progressive relaxation ones and I am looking to find some good rapid inductions so I can take my Hypnosis to a new level. Thanks Alot

Hi James,
Figuratively and literally, it would fair to say Dave Elman wrote the book on rapid inductions, these being inductions that are done in only a few minutes or less, not to be confused with instant inductions which aim to be done in seconds (approximately, definitions may vary). The Elman Induction is easy to do and a fine place to move away from PR and also his Hypnotherapy book is a must read in this regard in my opinion. From there, there are also interesting variations to discover. MT. |

I agree with MT. The Elman is easy to learn and rapid. You should be able to use it and get a fairly deep trance within three minutes. If it takes longer, you're doing it wrong.
I have a small book by Arons which gives an induction that supposedly takes ten seconds. The basic idea is that you describe exactly what is going to happen when you count to ten. "When I say 'one' you're going to find yourself starting to relax and feel comfortable and safe, ready to go into a deep trance," etc. You basically say everything you want to happen at each number. This could take five or ten minutes. Then you simply count from 1-10 and boom, they're in trance. Now, did that really only take 10 seconds? What about all the prep work. For someone who has been hypnotized in the past, I have them imagine a yardstick hanging vertically in front of them with "36" at the top. I say that 36 is alert and wide awake and 1 is in a deep hypnotic trance. Then I ask them on that scale of 1-36 where are they now? No matter the number they say, I tell them, "That's perfect. Now, allow yourself to go down to 1, where you'll be in a deep hypnotic trance. Nod when you're there." Then I sit back and let them hypnotize themselves (actually, all people hypnotize themselves). When they nod, I do deepener and convincers and continue. |

I hypnotized my first subject yesterday (Yeeeeay ^^) and I was following Anthony Jacquin's excellent book. I used the rehearsal induction and it worked like a charm. I was surprised when my subjects arm started lifting, didn't think it should be so easy ^^
Don't know if this is against the rules but I found a video of anthony doing it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfbOw_D4yRE Love, Maxi |

Hi Maxi,
that is great news. Good for you. The Rehearsal Induction has never failed me. I love it although do not use it as often as I used to. Keep it up and stay in touch if with questions and progress reports. Anthony

Hi Jim,
the rehearsal works well for the fledgling hypnotist because it gives you a little time to do your work without committing everything on one move or word. It begins with the hypnotist stating clearly what is going to happen and demonstrating how that will happen. To make this clear it is demonstrated again with the moment when the subject will become hypnotized made clear and how they will be brought out of hypnosis made clear. Because the hypnosis wants them to learn this and feel comfortable with it, it is demonstrated again...ad infinitum The expectation is they will go in. The know they can come out. Each time a rehearsal takes place a bit more detail is added. Subjects attention is shifted from outer instruction to inner experience, tense is shifted from future to present. The third or fourth time the hypnotist reaches over to demonstrate the subjects arm is 'trained' and begins to lift automatically. The hypnotist paces this and the eyes closed and leads them into hypnosis. The expectation, repetition and opportunity to observe your subject and pace and lead make this well worth learning as it is a solid induction. Variations on it have been around for a long time. I learnt this version from Training Trances which I thoroughly recommend. Anthony

I'm biased BUT I think my 60-Second See-Saw induction is probably one of the best around. You can within 60 seconds of meeting the person, and having them agree to being hypnotized, have them out-cold, deepened and doing some very strong routines..
I also like Cerbone's Butterfly. RT |

There are a lot of great inductions out there. Speedtrance is the approach I use (Cerbone butterfly) with some of my own adaptations, I have met Robert, his work is great and as I understand it he has a new DVD out. Anthonys books is a must have. I think in reality, any serious hypnotist should learn a variety, rather than seeking the "holy grail" of rapid induction, becasue different things work for different people. Like a mechanic, I have a toolbox of inductions....

I have the Speed Trance DVD of Richard's...very nice. The Cerbone butterfly is a very fun speed induction, both to do and to watch.

My favorite Induction is Cerbone's Reverse Tiger Claw Induction (hope I got the name right). Which Richard has mentioned is not one of his favorites... but there is something that really appeals to me about it...
But I'll have to admit that use his butterfly more often. |

If you're going to keep mentioning you "60 Second See-Saw Induction" you might want to explain what it is as others have.

I've personally witnessed Robert Temple perform his See-Saw Induction and its awesome.
Including Pre-Talk, Suggestibility Test and Actual Induction taking a complete stanger to the point where comedy routines can begin takes only 60 to 90 seconds in total. Its completely gentle and safe and I understand (from Rob) that a review copy has been sent to Richard Nongard so watch this space and more details should follow soon. |

Cheers Photo Wizard. I'm glad you enjoyed the DVD. Just to give you full details:
I created the See Saw induction during last summer and after hundreds of performances (both in the show and also just in the streets/bars/clubs of Greece and the UK) I've released it on a 3-DVD set with over 5 hours of training. It genuinely and safely allows you to hypnotize anyone (assuming they have consented to it, which they clearly have on stage), within about 60-90 seconds (that includes the pre-talk, suggestibility test and induction). What's more it can be used on stage, in therapy or on the streets and is safe (no collapsing randomly to the ground). I teach it to be done standing or sitting and I use it as the sole induction in my show. Ive even includes footage of me using it in my show! It takes you from zero-to-hero in stage hypnosis and is £47. PM me if you're interested in a copy. |
