As street performers we are very versatile the skills we have learned can be applied to a huge cross market to state the obvious. When it comes to work my first love is busking. Every other day I have some one say to me, great show you should be on TV all you should have an agent. Despite the fact I have been on TV and I do have agents as so do most street performers have and done. The point of their statement is that they don't quiet get it. Quiet simply it is an art form and for most a life stile of non-conformity.
Street performers are masters of crowd pulling, attracting a crowd before they have even become your audience. Think about that for a moment, that is your most powerful versatile tool that can be applied to a huge cross market. I split my work under 2 different hats. My first hat and my preferred is where I make my living from what becomes my audience. Weather I am busking, running a grind show all pitching magic the skill of attracting a crowd is the same, so I see it the same, busking. By doing so you have expanded your business by double. The second hat looks identical other that you make your money from a client. So now I am providing a show, a museum all doing trade shows. You cant get better than a side walk performer to attract a crowd. I am not talking about shows you get on the festival circuit all pitchmen that you get on market-day, I am talking your every day street busker who is working the every day streets, they have skills that can be very hard to match and they often don't know about it. I have herd it said so many times, buskers cant make good pitchmen (grafters). What a load of rubbish. To me that is like saying a buskers cant do trade shows. Bullocks, we are the best natural trade show performers. We are excellent grafters and we are master crowd pullers. That is what I love about busking, is that every day is different and when going gets tough buskers can fribe. Mario Morris |
