Well I tried it on the GF last night. It FLOORED her!!! She doesn't get to see a lot of my magic as I keep that side of my life away from her mostly (Due to the last GF I had bugged me all the time to tell her how it was done)( I did show her the Vanishing Banana once thou....She figured it out!)(Ahem) This really threw her. She looked at and signed the card, I pulled it outta my Mullica, asked her to hand me the hole punch (conveinently located on the coffee table for some reason), and BAM! linked one of her rings. She just sat there for a minute, then grabbed the card and looked confused. I took it back, finished up and went back to my movie. Ahhhh.... Pure silence for once.......
As for giving her an en....eng.... en... engagemant ring, Jamie..... Ummm... NO! Been down the marriage road once before and I think I would rather chew on my own but cheek. But that's my own opinion POOF!!! -J-
I don't care how fast or slow you are.... As long as I am faster.. -J-

Ordered and received this today.
I wonder how invisible the work on the card really is under close scrutiny? I suppose I will only know if I make up the gimmick. For me the jury is out. |

Hey Andi,
Give it ago, Think you'll be incredibly surprised how camoflauged everything is. I've had it handled under intense scrutiny. It even feels normal. Give it ago mate and let us know how you get on! Jamie

Really like the idea here. I have made up some rough gimmicks, and can see how this could really kill. All that is left is to make some finished products and try this puppy out =)

I began hosting this just a few days ago over at theinvisiblethread.com and have gotten nothing but rave reviews about it. So much so, that we've added Jamie's thread-less haunted pack, S.C.A.R.E.D. and it's awesome!! Jamie, you're on a role!

Jamie was kind enough to send me a copy of The GatherRing.
Now that I have had a chance to dive in and digest the material, I gotta say this is cool. While the principle isn't new (who cares), the effect, handling, and preparation are. With practice, the gimmicks can be prepared in just a couple of minutes, and lie dormant in your deck until you are ready to drop some knowledge. Although it is my first, GatherRing is now my favorite 'Linking Card/Finger Ring' effect. Sean |

This looks interesting, and I may pick it up, but let me just voice one pet peeve, that is no way meant as an insult to Jamie, just an observation on demo videos in general lately.
So you've got a cool new item. You wnat me to buy it. You want me to watch the demo video so I will want to buy it. So I click "play"... And I get several minutes of a car driving down the road at night! Has absolutely nothing to do with the trick. The trick doesn't start until about halfway thru the demo. Then we flash back a couple of times to the car. Frankly, that annoys me and makes me NOT want to buy the trick as badly, because it makes me wonder, "If there's this much filler in the DEMO, how much filler is there in the product?" I know this is the latest "cool" way to do things, but if you wanna coax ME (and I'll wager I'm not alone) into buying a product, don't waste my time with a lot of benign, irrelevant footage--just show me the dang trick!

That's pretty funny Scott. Wanna know what bugs me? I mean REALLY bugs me? This has been going on for a few years too and I see it on TV all the time. There's someone talking to you, explaining something , whatever. They're talking into the camera (looking at you) and every 15 or 20 seconds it switches over to a SECOND camera that's filming the person from the side. So you're looking at the person from the side on camera 2 while they talk into camera 1. Drives me CRAZY! Who actually sent out the memo telling everyone this was cool?

Hey Scott,
I've had this argument many times on lots of forums and of course peoples poins are valid. The way I look at it is not from a seller. I make my video's as if I was watching the video and what I would like to see in the video. Of course I want people to buy the effect but at the same time isn't it about the buyer being entertained? Would you prefer to stare at a screen of stationary text giving you the extra invformation you need to know or perhaps be taken on a journey with the video. I prefer to be creative with a demo. make sure I have a direct view of the effect beign performed but as well, hvaing something to stimulate people further. anyways, I appologise for this but I hope people still enjoy the effect as much as I do. all the best guys! Jamie,
No need to apologize. You have every right to do what you want to do. "Taken on a journey" is not what I personally would call it, though. I found it dull and wanted to fast forward past it--I wasn't entertained. Now if you had silent little snippets, say, of the climax and people reacting to it with a music bed and the text, I might have found it entertaining. I just don't see what is entertaining about a diembodied driver at night. It takes up fully half of the video length, or at least it seems to. Again, you can do whatever you want to, but it seems to me that if you are selling something, you should be looking at it as a seller and trying to do what the buyer wants and what will motivate him to buy, and not necessarily what you find entertaining. The same is true of a magic show, at least for me. I try to do a show that the audience I'm paid to entertain will like, not necessarily what I like. I do some lines that I don't think are all that funny, but they get laughs every time. I had some material that I thought was killer but audiences seemed indifferent, so I axed it. Other stuff that I just didn't think was that strong got great reactions, so it stayed in the act.

And BTW, can't you put the extra text with info I need to know in the ad copy next to the demo video?

Hey Scott,
I guess not everyone is looking for the same things. some people enjoy the demo video being sleightly different and as well as showing the effect but giving the information needed as well as somethign a little more entertaining. some others don't. I guess it's just a difference of opingions and not being able to please all. thanks for your thoughts and views though Scott, I'll take them into consideration for future video's Jamie
