I'm looking for a national cross-section on Ring Lecture Admission Rates:

What pricing structure does your Ring use for admission to lectures?

Do you charge separate member and nonmember admission?

Does the stature and fame of your lecturer promote a higher admission price?

What are your actual admission rates for lectures?

Thanks for your input!

At Ring 170 in Orlando we normally charge $10 for members and $15 for non, members. If the lecturer has his own price setup then that is the price we charge. Ring 258 in Leesburg charges its members no fee and $15 for non members.

Hi Skip!

Most of the lectures at Ring 50 and Assembly 23 in Washington, DC are free for members and $10 or $15 for nonmembers.

It's pretty tough to put this into perspective without knowing more about the ring, like what the annual dues are etc.. If we charged higher annual dues, then we could lower the lecture costs to our members.

At Ring 92 in Vancouver, Canada, our rates are:

Junior members - free
Adult members - $20 in advance, $25 at the door
Non members - $30 in advance, $35 at the door

Rates are the same regardless of who the lecturer is and we subscribe to the Lee Asher X-elent lecture series.

Costs include the fee for the lecturer, the rental of the lecture room at our local college, and the cost of accomodation. Last year our average cost was about $560, and our average income was about $660.

Skip, here is what we do at Ring 22 here in Detroit.

Ring Dues are $ 25.00 for the year.
That includes one FREE Lecture decided upon by the President of Ring 22.

General Lectures for Members of Ring 22 are $ 5.00 per lecture
Non-Members are charged $ 15.00 per lecture

We have a membership total of around 40 people.
To keep our lectures at a low price we perform for a Major Festival each year and that brings in a good portion of money to pay for the lecturers.

Thanks for the input, guys. It really helps! Gordy, I agree that it varies with the structure of the Ring. I'm simply looking for a rough cross section of Ring procedures on this topic. For example, one Ring offers a flat annual rate of $45 for a set series of lectures or members can pick & choose at $10-$15 per individual lecture. It's interesting to see the variations and logic.

Here in Lincoln Nebraska we are $20 a year. Then Lectures are $15 members, $25 Non-members. Or $35 for membership and discounted lecture fee.

My experience is with the Dallas Magic Clubs,of which I'm a member, both a SAM assembly and IBM ring. It varies with the lecturer. In most cases ring members where we pay for the lecture , pay a smaller fee, generally less than $25 per member. Amount charged to non members, when permitted varies.
I went as a non member to the Ft. Worth ring's lecture once and I believe I paid $25 to get in, members were, I believe, covered by their dues for that one.
