As far as a TnR newspaper goes I will have to say hands down my vote goes to Robert Baxts Better Newspaper Tear. I have always loved Gene Andersons TnR I just never liked the set-up. This effect is Genes tear you are just elimanating the set-up time. Just do the Gene Anderson fold and bam the gimmick does the rest. I have done many versions of the TnR newspaper but I always end up back to this. I highly recomend this product. The gimmick has some nice weight to it as well which really makes the restoration POP. Worth looking into if you like the Gene Anderson version.
Just my two cents -Bobby |

But if you can find a copy of Ron Wilson's book The Uncanny Scot, he also has an excellent variation of it in there. The book is out of print and hard to find, but it goes come up from time to time at a reasonable price. Quote:

I see some guys who do, for lack of a better word, a "dipping movement" with the paper as they're opening it up, intentionally lowering it when it doesn't have to be. Maybe I've been doing the Anderson Tear for so long that I can set it faster than some people, but it takes me only about 5 minutes to set this, it depends if I have the gaff already made. Sometimes I make several ahead of time so I can set with a fresh paper. I can fold a paper in 60 seconds. |

Still would love to have a version where the paper could be checked out by spectators (if they wanted) and then handed out to them after it's torn 'n restored and you finish "clean"!!

I mean to a lay audience they arent going to think the paper is gimmicked and even if they did they would not know where to even begin thinking lol. The effect is so straightforward and so magical I don't think it needs the examined factor. Just my opinion because I myself have never been asked by anyone to ever see it before or after the effect. Just my opinion. -Bobby |
