By the fact that they refer to Out Of This World with EllusiCrap's alternative Chance Zero title I'm ready to concede this person knows not a single thing about magic.
Thought: Why does man kill? He kills for food. And not only food: frequently there must be a beverage.

I'll bet a $20 bill that this guy has never read any of Paul Curray's work.....

Well I haven't read any either, but I do know that it's not a "wicked site"

Thank you, Moose, for sharing that with us. I'm sure your intentions were meant well.
I suggest you lurk a bit. Read and get a feel for what this forum and its people are all about. |

I don't really like the site but calm down guys I mean come on marko, ellusicrap? ellusionist might of done some things in the past but they are obviously trying to redeem themselves and don't need MORE people bad mouthing their company just because it's the cool thing to do now. If it werent for ellusionist a lot of people wouldn't of started in magic. I thank ellusionist for helping me find my love for magic.

I agree with marko.
I have no problem with ellusionist getting people interested in magic. They gave me my start. The problem comes (1) when they rename effects and sleights. Then, when a guy is ready to move past them, he finds out what a moron he is, calling effects by the wrong name. And (2) when they sell videos without permission from the creators of the effects they teach. As for the site listed by moosehopper, I have no reservations in saying that it is nothing to whisper at, let alone scream at. Of course, I absolutely loathe shameless self-promotion disguised as "Hey, check out what I FOUND (right after I created it in 95 seconds)." I have a feeling that moosehopper will not be back, that this was a one time poster. If you do come back, moose, spend about 30 minutes browsing the Café before you make another post. I don't think you quite understand what we are about here.

I commend all the posters for not making a personal attack on moosehopper, and instead dealing with the issues. Personal attacks would happen at some sites. I am very impressed with the caliber of people on here. It is important to recognize that moosehead’s site is not necessarily an expression of pride, but might be enthusiasm for magic. And that is something we all share.
I will elaborate on some issues mentioned above: When people shamelessly rename illusions and call them their own, or re-sell other's creations without permission, they are contemptible individuals. Moosehopper, I hope you do what is suggested and learn more about what this site is about. Hopefully, you will not freely post what you learn on your website so that it can be read by disinterested people, thus ruining all the fun for them, and for all magicians, in particular the ones who make their livelihood through magic. Not that you have done that with your existing site. The sleights there are quite simple. If you collaborate with other magicians, or you publish sleights, we expect you to do research and give credit to the original inventor. It is ok to say you discovered something for yourself if you really did of course, but crediting the inventor is important so that people do not consider you ignorant about magic. It is also a gesture of respect to the magic community. You did credit Marlo with the Marlo Tilt at your site, and you wrote "This sleight is not made by me." This shows effort on your part, even if you didn't realize that others had misappropriated some of the tricks you credited. Unfortunately, there was probably no way for you to know that without engaging the magic community, so I welcome you here. By the way, people who do 'study' and practice magic are not likely to give secrets away, and most people who do give secrets away generally don't know much that is valuable. So if you post magic secrets publicly, you are going to be shut out of the good stuff! Worse still, you will generally ruin the fun for anyone who learns how it is done, and as I mentioned above, you will hurt other magicians. If you do stick around, I think you’ll get the right idea, at least I hope so. We all share your enthusiasm for magic.
Humans make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to create boredom. Quite astonishing.
