I am one of those who have decided to memorize a stack, and am torn between memorizing Mnemonica, Aronson, or committing the Osterlind stack to memory.
One question could easily help push me toward Mnemonica, which is the direction I'm leaning toward anyway. (Having just gotten the book, there's so much in there that it seems I could spend the next 10 years learning it after I've gotten the stack in memory). The question is: using Mnemonica, is there a way to isolate the complete run of one suit, and to have it be the only suit of that color, in one half of the deck? This is what I most like about Aronson's stack, the ability to isolate all the hearts in the top half of the deck -- WITHOUT USING FAROS -- in preparation for "Shuffle-Bored". To my mind, Shuffle-Bored's only possible climax is to show that all of the face up cards of one color are indeed of one suit. So, can we accomplish this same thing with Mnemonica? And without using Faros? I do not anticipate the Faro shuffle being within my arsenal in the forseeable future. |

I don't think you can isolate a suit in the mnemonica stack that easily, though I don't know how the Aronson stack works as I don't use it. The suits are pretty evenly spread in menonica though.
But I don't think I'd want to use that as the climax. I prefer it looking like the cards are genuinely randomly mixed but being able to name exactly which are face up. Any kind of order suggests a set-up and reduces the impact in my mind. Maybe I'm missing the point - I don't know the effect that well. I like Tamariz's stack and his ideas with it, but the main thing is just to know one well. Ortiz suggests just shuffling a deck for a while then sitting down and memorising it. The in-built tricks are good, but not essential. Have fun when you get there, it's great! |

4 out faro shuffles with Mnemonica will give you a run of 22 cards that only have 1 club. And that run conveniently starts at the 27th card. That should give you a desired Shuffle-Bored outcome (i.e. one with a lone suit for the final reveal).
I know that you don't want to do faros, but this info might help someone else. |

You can get into SHuffle bored set up with the Aronson stack using just a slip cut. I believe Simon has the procedure on his website.

Yes, it's on his website. In Mnemonica, Tamariz discusses a Shuffle-Bored routine as a possible finale to a set (though he doesn't mention how to get to the point where you're left with just one suit (which is desireable if you're doing one of those prediction type routines). The presentation in Mnemonica is a divination so the lone suit at the end isn't as important.

I once learned Mnemomica, but forgot it. I am looking to Memorize this or some other stack, once again. I hate forgetting.

I used Tamariz's song method and it really worked. Once you learn it again use it Mr. Gould. There's plenty of killer material in the book's pages.

There is an article on MC about what properties a stack should have, including memorizability and algorithim for finding the next card. Tamariz's method, to me, fulfills a lot of those criteria

Obviously, if you know the order of the cards and what the top card is, this could be done in a face down deck with one reverse faro: simply spread through the deck, outjogging cards apparently at random, but in reality, say, all (or the require nnumber of) the hearts.
I used an Aldo line while doing a reverse faro, "This is called the zig-zag shuffle. Some cards go in the zig, and some go in the zag." Strip out the jogged cards and throw them on top. If you have a nicked/crimped card on the bottom, you could follow with a Charlier Shuffle (very easy) and a cut at the crimp to restore the order of the deck. You could even do two Ireland shuffles if you wanted.

The best Climax in my opinion for Shuffle Bored is to use the fact that most of the red and black are separated but that the procedure brought the cards down to one, to finish separating the colors and perform Out of this World. Just do a quick casual false shufle in between both effects (Zarrow or other). Shuffle Bored goes from several cards down to one (focus) and OOTW goes from two indicator cards through the entire deck (expansion).
