Heads Up! I'm at the point at which I'm going to have to raise the one time price of membership to $35.00-- it will happen this weekend. This weekend there will also be more content...

Still a bargain! Your private survey suggested it should be more! You're way too kind!

I agree RK! A standard magic DVD is usually 35 bucks and IMO even the best of them don't offer the in depth teaching that SY does nor do you recieve feed back from the creator, author or teacher on a particular move or trick!
Becoming a student of Mr Youell may be the best investment I've made in myself and my study of sleight of hand with cards! Mick |

On 2009-01-22 20:28, MickeyPainless wrote: When I read that, Mick, it reminded me of a story. Please understand that this is IN NO WAY intended as a shot at you--it just reminded me of this story. My good friend and mentor Ray Grismer was a very close friend of Dai Vernon. Ray plays the piano beautifully, and Vernon suggested they make a deal: Vernon would give Ray lessons in sleight of hand in exchange for Ray giving Vernon piano lessons. While Ray already did some beautiful magic, it was mostly based on subtleties at the time, and he was very interested in learning more intricate stuff, especially from Vernon. So the agreement was made, and each took his roles as both teacher and pupil very seriously. Fast forward a few months. Ray is performing a card routine for a small audience at The Magic Castle and Vernon quietly enters and observes. When his set is finished and the audience leaves, Ray goes to The Professor and asks, "Well, Dai, what did you think?" Vernon gruffly replied, "Do me a favor, Ray. If you're going to do a double lift like that, NEVER tell ANYONE you're MY student!" Ray was momentarily heartbroken, but took to practicing even harder to improve on his technique. A few days later, Ray walked into The Castle, and to his surprise, Vernon was entertaining a small group of early arrivers by playing a few numbers for them on Irma's piano. When he was done he looked up and noticed Ray in the corner. After the group dissipated, Vernon motioned Ray over and asked him how he thought the little recital went. Ray smiled and said, "Do me a favor, Dai. If you're going to play the piano like that, NEVER tell ANYONE you're MY student!" I remember the first time I heard Ray tell that story. Just his expression and the inflection of his voice, and the twinkle in his eye--you could tell he thoroughly enjoyed giving The Professor his comeuppance! Anyhoo, back on topic, Steve's site is worth many times the VERY REASONABLE asking price. Oh, and Steve, don't worry... I'm NEVER telling ANYONE I'm YOUR student! OOPS! I guess I just DID!

This has nothing to do with skill. But if any of you have ever been lucky enough to see Steven work for laymen, you will see an audience laughing their selves silly while he's doing really good and baffling work.
Some day ask him about working on the outside of the window (or customers inside) at a Denny's restaurant when the dopey manager came over and said, "No card tricks allowed in this restaurant."

Just wanted to throw my support in, as well. This is the best $25 you'll spend. If the price were to ultimately quintuple you'd still have a heck of a lot to show for your investment. If you can find a better, more generous deal out there I hope to heck you'll PM me and let me in on your secret.
