I use parason anywhere for my children-stage show, they are pop open parasols and work very well, but maybe you will want to use a bigger umbrella. The parasol anywhere DVD show you some ways to produce a big regular parasol. It might help.

Hey everyone I have a question if someone can help me out. I'm having trouble with my load of my parasols, when I go to retreive my parasol from the sccarcard the pins come lose, am I pinning it wrong or is there anything I could put in the jacket to hold it stronger?
Okay, I give up what was your card?

Years ago I saw an illusion using a step ladder and an umbrella... Girl climbs to the top of the ladder covered by the umbrella then the magician pulls it away and she is gone....
There's also the old bit with the girl on the bench |

Umbrellas are easy and flashy productions. You can produce four 16" umbrellas from the THIS (Improved). They can fill a stage quickly!

Re: Card sword umbrella. Russian spies created a poisoned tipped umbrella for assassinations. With a tie-in to the Ace of Spades representing the death card; you have the premise for a mini routine/ skit within your show.

Wasn't there a classic umbrella act by Dick Gustavson.

The natural moves of opening an umbrella is perfect for laoding objects or packets into either hand. I have had a young lady hold an inverted parasol like a basket into which I dropped silks and garlands -- then produced therefrom other things. Those small cocktail parasols can be opened with one hand for a pretty production that can be tossed into the crowd.

Dick Gustfason never did an umbrella act but Ward Thomas did. He was a top notch act.
The vanish of a girl on a step ladder behind an umbrella is written up in the Conjuror's magazine or the Mikey Hades book "Conjurer's Stage Illusion" (I think that is the name). It was credited to Blackstone which is probably wrong. But Walter Gibson was writing a lot of this stuff and he worked for Blackstone. Richard

I have just recieved my Abbotts mutilated parasol. Well apart from paying customs Tax on it, I am not satisfied with the stitching on this item, very poor, plus 3 little pin holes in both umbrella covers. solid framework but poor silks.

I would contact Abbott's. Explain your problems with it. I am sure they will make it right.
