The topic talks for itself. So, do you know a good book that is talking only about magic in general, but do not contains tricks? Something about how to manage a crowd, misdirection, practice, how to build a show, this kind of things.

I would like to have a book that I can carry in the subway, that's why I don't want any tricks in it (practicing tricks in the subway is not really amusing). Oh, and I'm interested in street magic and impromptu magic mostly.

Thank you !
Mark

Is Houdini: Master of Illusion a great book? I know it's about Houdini's life, but it could be a good book. Smile

Interesting question.
Strong magic is too big to carry around.
Showmanship for Magicians by fitzkee may be o.k. It`s old, 1943, and a lot of its outdated, but makes lots of good points.
Magic and Showmanship, is a soft paperback, published in 1969, so its not too old, and has a lot to think about.
Scripting, presentation, structure. Not many tricks, but some magic presentations.

I will go tomorrow to the magic shop. We'll see what they got. I will also tell you what I bought! Oh, and thank you for all the great suggestions!! Smile

Mark

I bought Magic and Showmanship, based on price and information in it, and the opinion of some magicians that were present there. Thank you all for your ideas! Smile
