Just saw an ad on TV where the mint just released 3500 Morgan Silver Dollars in uncirculated MINT condition. The coins are 87 to 130 years old as they range in dates from 1800 - 1921.
They're being sold for $20 each and your limited to 5 per call. If you want to buy them, call 800 734 0930. Christopher

Thanks for the info Lyle. I think that most coin magicians are looking for worn "slick" coins though. When you are doing moves or sleights with uncirculated coins, they will make noise when they slide across each other, while the slicks won't.
Part of the reason that the Schoolcraft or Lassen gaffs are so expensive is that they want to make the gaffs in as close to the wear pattern of the rest of the coins in the sets. Bob Phillips |

Interesting...
I have been using my set of 1921 Morgan's now for several years and never really thought of it like that. I just thought "how cool to get my hands on Morgans from the 1800s. To each their own. = )

My thought is that unless your methods require worn coins, use the ones with minimal wear. they are more distinguishable for what they are and look more professional. I've seen some magicians who used coins that were so worn they looked no different than metal washers without a hole. I think that just looks horrible, especially if you end with a jumbo that has sharp design.

Agreed Skoster...
I actually polish my morgans about once a month so they keep that brand new shine and feel. Also since my Jumbo is a Chrome Jumbo, I want that to match the coins. But to each their own. = )

This is a pretty good price. Silver is around $13 an ounce so junk silver coins are going for at least this price. I wish I could afford to have a matching shell made from one of these coins...
