Hey guys just wondered if any of you perform this gem? I have been practicing it and have done it for myself about fifty times so far. I love this trick. it is done from a borrowed shuffled pack and I believe it is a killer. Of course I need about fifty more trials before I try it out on a civilian. I'll keep you posted. Meantime, any comments or anecdotes on this one?

There is some really good work on this effect from Bill Goodwin called Pre-prefiguration...interesting take. It's from his 1988 Lecture notes I believe.

Also Mark Elsdon has a great version of this effect! It's on his DVD

Somewhere in the forum, there is a free download of J.C. Wagner's version.

It is a great lead-in to The Last Trick of Dr Daley too! |

Not to mention Yves Doumergues Ten for Ten shown on Josh Jays 'Talk about Tricks', and released on CD rom a few years back, and in the September 2003 Magic Magazine I believe...

Also a description/variant in Walt Maddison's "Aces" (1982)though Walt suggested there the original might have been in the "Cavalcade" series, as Roger pinpoints above. In later years I've most often seen it credited to Larry Jennings, as the thread title suggests.
Great impromptu card effect well worth having in the repertoire. Paul |

There were a few versions in a recent copy of 'Magic' magazine.
None of them lived up to the version on the Mark Elsdon dvd.

I don't think it is fair to say it is identical to Four Way Coincidence. Yes, both produce the three matches of a selected card from a shuffled deck. Both are good. But the handlings are quite different.

For the record :
Larry Jennings' 'Prefiguration' was published in February 1965 issue of Genii. John Murray's 'Four Way Coincidence' was published in "Card Cavalcade 3" (1975). Hideo Kato |

In fact, when Peter Nardi demo'd Mark Elsdon's version many moons ago, I thought it was "Four Way Coincidence." No harm done though, it's a lovely effect and I use it all the time! |

Thanks, Hideo. Roger, I am not familiar with Four Way Coincidence, are the methods actually the same?

Well it’s been almost ten years. Are you guys still doing Prefiguration or any versions?
I have been doing David Lederman’s Prefiguration Refigured from the FFFF book and I love it. |

I really like Ben Eearl's version from his notes. Also Ramon Rioboo has a great version in his book.

I also like Ben Earl's version. Very simple technically and hits hard. I believe its called "four card impossible". Its virtually self working, but sure doesn't seem that way.

I checked out Four Way Coincidence in CC3 and it is identical in method to Lederman’s. The only difference is in Lederman’s the first card is counted to, in Murray’s Four Way Coincidence the first card is spelled to. Identical methods.

I have found many similarities in my exploration of this plot, but these are the first two I have discovered to be Identical.
