Mark Wilson wants to hear from you. I'll be doing a series of interviews with Mark Wilson over the next few months on the MagicNewswire.com podcast. In addition to talking about his career, the many television shows he's worked on (Alakazam, Magic Circus, The Magician, etc...) his performances in China and his relationships with people like Alan Wakeling, Mark wants to answer some question from you the listener. Please let me know what questions you'd like for him to answer. Feel free to post them here or email me. If possible, we might even try a conference call with Mark to let you ask the question yourself on the show.
Thanks in advance, Dodd Vickers magicnewswire@gmail.com |

Why did you leave out his first magic show "Time for Magic"? That show is what got me started in magic. Mark gets asked a lot of stuff about his career, but never enough about all he has learned about marketing with magic, marketing yourself as a magician, and marketing magic. That is the area of his real genius, and one which needs more documentation while whe still have him around to tell us about it.
He was billed once as the man with the Fifty Thousand Dollar Hands. He should be billed now as the man with the Billion Dollar Knowledge of Marketing and Magic.

I would ask him how he feels about his book being thought of as the best reference source for beginners and pros alike. Did he ever think that it would be as big as it has gotten. Also what does he think of what magic has become due to it's recent pop back into mainstream culture?

What is he doing now? What are his future plans?

He should write a book with all of his illusions in it. With blueprints ect.

Trey, his son is doing some of those illusions and that might be the reason for some not released, however a few have been release in Alan Wakelings book.

As one of the pioneers of magic on TV, I'd REALLY love to hear what he has to think about the sorry state of magic on TV today.

I'd ask him what new venues he would try to create today. When theater and club venues were drying up, he broke into TV (almost literally!) -- so one wonders what he'd do if he were starting today.

At one time, Mr. Wilson put out an excellent 8 volume video course in magic on VHS which complimented his book. Can you ask him if he plans to update the course to DVD? Also, can you ask if he plans to re-release his instructional video on the multiplying balls (which also is no longer avsilable)? Thanks!

Loved the interview! I can't wait for the second installment! The part where Mr. Wilson said "It's a part of the elephant you have not seen." And you said "I just touched it's leg." That was funny! Good call back.
Ask Mr. Wilson more about Henchen (sp) magic from Oklahoma. As I live in Oklahoma. And this is the first I have heard of this company. What town or city were they located? And maybe a proper spelling of the name. Thanks! Trey |
