Jonathan it is not sponge bunnies in their hand.
The *** sponge that gets the very best reaction,,,, lol for me Juan Tamariz is one of the greatest thinkers in magic ever,But I would rather See Rene Lavan perform his oil and water than almost any card effect. |

If, at any point in this thread, I said that the Open Travelers is a "better" effect than any other, then I misspoke, unless in the same breath I equated "better" with being "inherently stronger." "Better" isn't generally a useful term for me. But sometimes I do slip up and use it. |

"But I would rather See Rene Lavan perform his oil and water than almost any card effect." What is interesting is that there are far better oil and water routines
Than his...but his is the best. This speaks volumes to me. |

...and Lawrence O' applauds Scott: if we can sell people a dream (any dream), we are magicians. This is only done by deeply understanding the nuances in the audience's emotional logic and splitting hair to twist it technically and in script and in acting to get there. Snappy summary judgments don't work for that kind of magic.
Scott: I'd like to see your bionic card. I know you have the technology to build it! and it doesn't really matter if some people don't understand that as soon as they address other performers capabilities instead of addressing the effects, they make a thread regress instead of progress (and might be at risk of exposing their suffisance).

Just to add to the list; "Impossible Travellers" by Mike Powers is a combination of the original effect and "McDonald's Aces".
I don't know whether I really like this, but it does add another layer of thinking to the effect, especially the way that the extra card is added to the tabled cards. It may also give a different perspective on how "McDonalds Aces" may be performed. |

Naturally NOT subjective! (Lol)
Mind you, from time to time, I keep an eye on the number of visits that a thread gets into the café and the number of posts it generates and I do ratios. Whether the figures are small or large, the average subject gets a ratio between 3 to 3.5%. When it comes to Juan or René, it goes up to 7.5 to 8.5%: doesn't this make it "statistically quantified subjectivity"? I further noticed that when, in a thread, the posters loose track of discussing the topic to get confrontational and judgmental, the thread ratio goes immediately down.

I bought it originally as a separate manuscript which also had, (I believe) Racherbaumer's "Olram Aces" detailed as well, but I don't think this is still available.
It is also on page 95 of Mike Power's book "Top Secret Stuff". |

I also wanted to mention a couple of other Invisible Palm type routines: Terry LaGerould's Gamblin Shenanigans in Pasteboard Presentations. He also references Steve Spillman's Open Travellers in his book "My Hands Can Be Yours". The other is Hippie Torrales "Stealth Cards" in Trapdoor magazine Issue #63, 1997. In this version the last card is done face up with a move similar to David Roth's Pop Out Move with coins. Cheers, David

Just found two more (in French):
Faré, Jean: Imagick Hors Série Edward Marlo(magazine: 2000 Ed Marlo Special issue): Open Travellers with only four cards Savelief, Cyrille: Open Travellers (2005 booklet): based on Jean Farés translation of Marlo's solution but more direct on the last card.

In the revised list of variant published in p 4 of the present thread, there is a non completed reference on Joshua Jay.
I was wondering why it was there and finally found out. Jay, Joshua: Close Up Up Close DVD 2 Rubbed Away by Joel Givens. The technique consists in building an impromptu double facer to do an even more convincing Rub A Dub Dub vanish. This is extremely smart and deceptive. Thks to Joel Givens and Joshua Jay

Bernard Bilis who works on this effect for ages (I recall that, when we were about 18 or 19, he was already working at it) came up with a new version. It's available in English on his second "100% Bilis" DVD
This version supplies some smart ways to handle the double and it makes use of a special gimmicked card (supplied with the DVD) which allows to show each ace before it travels. There is no packet switch half way through A pretty good achievement by a magician who has made his living just out of 52 cards. Nick Sullivan has also placed a good performance on Youtube without patter or explanation. There are some good handling of the double and the final card is well dealt with.
