I gather this is pretty much on the fly and you don't have a budget, because this is the kind of thing you would hire good minds for.

This gets into serious routining and scripting.
If you are not well versed in such, this could end up a mess. Depending on the timeframe, get yourself a copy of Scripting Magic and Maximum Entertainment. They will teach you to do exactly what you are being asked to do. If time is too short, you need to basically think of this as a busking street show... you have an opener, a middle and a closer... all leading and building to the closer ... during everything you focus on connecting with the audience - its all about CONNECTING with the spectators - not so much the magic. When it comes to something like you are looking at - its about ENTERTAINMENT... not magic. Even the simpliest ball and vase can work miracles when done to proper entertainment scrpting. You also need to be comfortable with what you are doing. If time is short, what are your favorite effects you feel good with? How can you patter and script them to blend together? Most importantly, are you just being seen as someone doing magic, or are you beeing seen as an entertaining guy that keeps viewers watching? Most people will only watch a MAGICIAN for a few minutes... but people will watch an ENTERTAINER for hours...

You should look into some of the magic that Mac King performed and then taught on the World's Greatest Magic Specials way back in the day. They're probably just what you're looking for.

For the ending? Maybe a levitation or a mentalism effect?
Good luck.
Magic is a vanishing art.

I'd prefer a vanish...
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=2&1 Why another mindless thread on you wanting to be on TV? If you want your 15 minutes, talk to Andy about it, he's the one that brought it up. Michael |
