Hey Matt,

If you can't find a Zippo at Wal-mart try a local smoke shop or gas station. If that's too high you can always buy one for cheap on amazon.com

In regards to using the cell phone as a mirror. That's covered in the dvd but I think if you're going to borrow someone's phone you should be prepared for an interruption. I wouldn't recommend borrowing a phone because it lights up when someone calls and can ring or vibrate throwing the focus off the little card and angel.

Twilight Angels would be a great trick to show to a priest, nun, someone on their death bed, etc. That way you can leave them thinking about the angels..

I'm just not sure how to take that...but find myself in stitches when I contemplate it.

"Bless me Father for I have sinned...pick a card...any card...it has been 2 weeks since my last card trick..."?

"Good afternoon Sister Mary Elizabeth...have I shown you Twisted Sisters"?

"So..doc says you only have a few hours to live? ...I'm going to run my thumb across this deck...stop me at any time...." "See how the angel is reflected in the mirror...and notice how you have no breath to fog it up?"

Better yet..how about doing "Out of This World" ?

When I am on my death bed..I hope someone does a card trick for me...one I haven't seen. Then god can just top-palm me to that great deck in the sky.

Patrick, that is the most hilarious thing I've read in a long time. Can I have permission to use the first one in my signature?

I do have to say that Twilight Angels has received one of the strongest reactions I've ever had. On TA, the three best reactions (deep astonishment) have come from Twilight Angels, Big Tiny, and Dr. Fun. What effects have you found that have gotten true astonishment?

Just received this e-mail from Jason:

Hello Friends,
The time has come for the Paul Harris Live Event. Mark your calendars, because it's happening two weeks from today, on Sunday, April 19th at 3 PM Eastern Time . You have two weeks to come up with any questions you might want to ask about the True Astonishments DVDs.

Here's how it will work. I'll be moderating, so the questions will be going through me. You can ask questions in two different ways:
1. Email me your questions at jm@trueastonishments.com. Use the subject "video chat." This is your best chance of getting your questions answered as I'm sure the chat itself will be overflowing with questions.
2. Just show up in the forums during chat time and ask your question then.

You'll need to be registered in the forums to gain access to the chat. If you haven't already signed up for the forums do so immediately. (Please use the email you used when purchasing your set or your access to the forums will be delayed.)

Paul and I will try to get to as many questions as possible. Obviously questions about the effects and True Astonishments will take precedence over other questions but hopefully we can get in some general questions as well.

TWO IMPORTANT NOTES
1. It will be more fun to show up for the chat but we are making every effort to have a video recording of the chat made available sometime following the chat.
2. If you can't make it to the chat or in the excitement you forget to ask something, Paul will be hanging around the forums for a few days immediately following the chat so everyone will get a fair chance at asking any pertinent questions or sharing their comments.

Also, expect to hear some quick teasers about The Miracle Model (a lot of you have been asking me) and news about the new website that is set to launch any day now.

Thanks again to everyone for all your patience and support over the last few months. And, as always, if there is anything anyone needs, please feel free to contact me at jm@trueastonishments.com.

All The Best,
Jason Messina

Hey everyone, something is coming... something truly awesome and amazing. It's going to be out of this world! You will absolutely not want to miss this!!! But you can't see it unless you are part of our secret society of VIPs who ordered from the correct website. :-(

Is there any way we (poor souls) who didn't buy TA from the creator's website can still be involved with this other protected forum and related video chats with Paul Harris? I bought my copy of TA from Penguin Magic because there was an especially good deal for Valentine's Day. I didn't even realize I was going to be missing out on something by not buying from the true astonishments website.

How about letting the rest of us apply to be allowed entrance by...
(A) Proving we own the DVD via email
(B) Paying whatever difference was lost to Paul Harris from not buying TA on the true astonishments website.

Just a thought.

I didn't get that "especially good deal" from Penguin Magic that you enjoyed.

I did get to support Paul and Jason directly, Paul's cool little scribble, an exclusive forum and chat with Paul by ordering from The Astonishment Project.

It would only be fair to people who bought directly from Paul and Jason to get exclusive access and not anyone else.

Sincerely,

Doug

I recently got as Zippo Type lighter at my local Rite Aid drug store. It's name brand is Ronson. But it is exactly the same as a Zippo. And it was relatively inexpensive, just a few bucks.

Can't I support Paul and Jason now by paying extra to become involved? Why does it have to be such a permanent exclusion?

Because that is how it was set up. You see, some people make decisions and actually stick by them. While it's an obviously foreign concept for you (hence you asking), I think it's a good lesson. Best "price" isn't always best value.

Learn to 1.) do research and not blame other people when you don't, and 2.) Live with the decisions you made.

I didn't buy from TAP either, so I have no basis for saying that I should be able to take part in the video conference, as much as I would really like to. I will say, however, that if what you are saying is right than opening up the forums would provide some value to TAP purchasers as there would be more people there discussing the effects.

I'm not saying that's the right way to look at it, just another way to look at it.

Besides, I posted a few thoughts about some effects and no one will continue to discuss it further. It just make me feel frustrated to post anything there again...

The original intention of the private TA forum is a good cause and I can think of a lot of possiblities like bonus DVDs for items being cut from initial release or even continue the saga by release one additional disc each year afterwards, also sidelines like T-shirts, polos (please add you favorite sovenuirs here) can be exclusive only to TA forum registered members to show loyalty and unite in 'True Astonishment' thought and belief in such a chaos magic community.

However, since that place is so quiet and everyone's only concern is the refill of Twilight Angels, it just makes the forum cannot as function as expected. How about other effects? Seems like no one care about, just make the True Astonishment DVD set dicussion into 'Twilight Angels' discussion, sadly speaking.

It's beginning to sound like it's like a Penguin Forum... uh oh. Smile I had a browse through the private forum for TA from the Astonishment Project and I would have to agree, there's not much of anything going on in there apart from folks asking about refills.

If you think about it, it makes sense. We all have goodness knows how many different forums that we keep up with, another one just makes it more burdensome.

I am fascinated by the posts here, in particular:

1.) The posts from people who decided to get TA from another site (reaping rewards from that site) now asking/begging/pleading to get the rewards from people who bought from TAP.

2.) The people complaining about a lack of activity on the TA private forum. In particular, I call BS on Steven. His entire post is either self-delusion or outright lies. AND I will explain why.

Regarding 1.), I have ZERO compassion for these people. These are the same TYPE of people who were too stupid to understand what VARIABLE rate mortgages were and led to our current economic crisis. It is my deep-seated desire that they never get access to the private TA forums. Ever.

In regards to 2. I am utterly perplexed. There have been 480 posts on specific tricks, including new ideas, new approaches, and other applications of the effects. 82 posts about the secret cookies alone (not counted in the 480 above), 61 posts about letting other people into the private forums (most of which are OPPOSED to letting other people in), 63 posts on suggestions for the TA forum, etc.

The refills question/issue has three subtopics within the "True Astonishments" topic. Total number of replies? 13. Yup, 13. The last one being Wed Apr 01, 2009 9:58am. So I don't even get the refill comment.

To address a few more specific details:
Steven Leung seems to be upset that nobody is commenting on what he shared. This seems a valid criticism until you learn the following. He's only made 6 posts, TOTAL, on the forum. 2 of which had to do with whether to allow people to join the forum (he is opposed and raises good points). 2 more are in the review section, one of which simply repeated the first sentence of his Dunn's Deal review from HERE, the second is his experience with Reset plots. Ok, so far, NONE of his posts have anything to discuss further. Oh wait, a third review of Water Trap which also merely repeats his first 3 sentences from HERE.

Ok, so he must have a really big discussion grabber for his last of 6 posts to justify him saying what he did here, right? Let's see...

It was his idea about the disk 9 interview. Hey, let's see how he starts his post:
Quote:
I do not watch the interview in Disc 9 yet
. Hmmmm, he is upset because nobody is discussing something with him even though he hadn't even watched the interview yet??? WTF?! Ok, he must finish strongly with something that will want to make people respond immediately, let's see:
Quote:
I will try to post my thought after I watch the final interview.

He never did, and that post was from Feb.

So, you see, I'm really curious what "thoughts" he thinks warrant discussion. Personally, I think people are whining for no reason. A small amount of research (4 minutes) demonstrated how he offered NOTHING to stimulate discussion, despite his

Quote:
Besides, I posted a few thoughts about some effects and no one will continue to discuss it further. It just make me feel frustrated to post anything there again...
.

Hey man, if those first 6 posts are any indication of the "thoughts about some effects", not sure if you not posting anything is going to be missed.

I don't mean to single you out, Steven, but I call BS on everything you said and proved it. I, on the other hand, have offered SEVERAL REAL IDEAS on effects in that forum and, guess what, people responded. It's amazing how it works.

Sorry but I just hate it when people outright lie about stuff like this. And, in my book, liars deserve to be exposed.

I think some great ideas have been shared. I think it will take time of actually performing stuff out in the real world before we get the next burst of activity but you all understand me when I say I hope it is MUCH DIFFERENT than the "thoughts" Steven shared so far. Don't get me wrong, I hope he actually shares thoughts but so far, he hasn't.
