I wasn't even talking about you. I was talking about Winks.

So was I. But as I already clearly stated they should have been included in some other more accessible way for those who want to see them, not just have to search for them. Included in the main menu would have also been good. I don't always have the time to go back and find a 2 second appearing mushroom so I can reference an effect I liked.

Sirbrad, I misinterpreted what you had said. It read as if you were defending yourself against what you thought was an attack against you. My bad.

Yeah it kinda looked that way, no problem. My quote was hidden in the other text. "Well that is a bit extreme, I would never sell a set because of having hidden material. I would just eventually have to find it when I had time."

I know what you wrote, I read it... I just took it the wrong way because what you wrote made sense with what I had written about Winks, all but your last sentence, which I didn't understand since I was interpreting it as you defending yourself so I guess I dismissed it. Now that I know you weren't defending yourself, I read what you said and it makes sense now.

Yeah I would never say "Dang this set has easter eggs! Sold!" Smile That would be a bit extreme in my opinion.

Hey not to change the subject or anything but I have a questions. Why is it that PH neither performs or teaches on these DVDs? I thought this would be a common question but several google/cafe searches turned up nothing. Maybe my search terms stink. It seems weird to me that Paul is so "not present" on this DVD aside from the borderline superfluous "phootnotes". In fact, a number of effects aren't his. I guess its "Paul Harris" presents" though a lot of times while watching TA I had to remind myself that this was a PH project.

Aside from exploiting his legacy what is PH doing these days? Kinda sounds like he is some sort of aimless drifter who doesn't perform much or at all. BTW, I've been a huge PH fan since "Supermagic" so I'm not here to bash him- though some of the"PH presents" stuff is a little marginal. OTOH his books have always included a few marginal items so maybe things haven't changed too much.

I'm curious myself, Kamus.

I have really admired and respected Paul's amazing imagination and skills ever since those early days. It seems he drifted out of magic for a while. But now we hardly see him at all. Perhaps he has tired of the magic scene. After all, the man has been doing it so very long.

But I certainly wish him the best and hope that we do see a bit more of him in the future.

I was disappointed when I found out that Paul wasn't performing the tricks on TA, at first. But, then a friend or two of his told me that Paul isn't the show biz kind of guy he used to be. And, he prefers to stay in the background, which is his prerogative.

This 9 DVD set is Paul's legacy. The last interview on the DVDs with Paul changed the way I perform magic forever.

And, as Jon Lovick and Brad Henderson said in their review in MAGIC, this DVD project sets the bar. (I think they missed the boat a little in their joint review, but they did say that.)

True Astonishments is all Paul Harris. With the vintage clips and interviews, it represents a lifetime in magic. He may be a "drifter" but he's certainly not "aimless", IMO.

And, from what I understand, there's much more to come.

Thanks for your replies guys.

So has anyone heard from the man himself as to why he keeps such a low profile these days? If he still loves magic, and it would be weird after all the stuff he said on the TA set if he didn't, wouldn't he still take pleasure in performing it? Very mysterious- or is that the point? I mean he has always been a semi-mystical figure- staying behind the curtain certainly only intensifies the mystique.

From what I understand Paul has some health issues that he is dealing with. So his mind is probably not 100% on magic at this point which is understandable. Goes without saying we all wish him the best.

Hello Thales

Not sure where you heard this, but you should be happy to know Paul is in the best
of health. I should know -- I see him all the time. Maybe Paul spread this
rumor for his own entertainment.

Well that's good to hear. At any rate, I wish Paul all the best- he seems like a good and gentle person.

Hahahaha you got me beat!

As far as this set goes I ordered it back in January. I finally started watching it. I know you would wonder why I would wait so long. My wife and I were in between moves and job changes so my box camped out in our storage unit hidden behind a ton of junk. I am excited to finally get my feet wet with it and have downloaded the easter egg pdf. I didn't know there were easter eggs in it until yesterday, so that is an added bonus I'm looking forward to!

By the way, I work 4 ten hour shifts on grave's. In case anyone was wondering. lol

As far as being lazy, please, go suck an egg. I will match my day and week up against anyone for work time.

OK I'll take you up on that challenge. I work from 8AM to 6 PM Mon to Fri and from 8AM to 12 noon on Saturdays. I am a high school teacher and this is my work week (54 hrs weekly). That doesn't take into account the 2-3 hrs assignment marking I do at home after dinner as well as the 3-4 shows (60-mins) each I do every weekend.
AND I managed to find ALL the Paul Harris Easter Eggs!!!!

SO how is YOUR work week?

I read here on the Café somwhere, they were considering making a whole deck, with the altered backs
that way you could do it a few times a one gig and not everyone would have the 2 hearts?
anyone seen them?

I've been wondering the same thing. It's probable the new policies at USPC have prevented the deck from being produced.

I did email Janet about this a week or 2 ago, she said, yes, they did have problems with USPC, but they are working on it, and hopefully will be out soon! Just keep checking the site, http://www.paulharrispresents.com, and I'm sure it will appear.
