I got a note from Jason at the "vanishing" Astonishment Project. He said he will still be available for any issues that people might have with True Astonishments, but is moving on to other projects. He also said RED Twilight Angels will be available in the future, he just has no details.

So that answers some of my questions.

Glad to hear Paul is taking an active part in this, and everyone is working to get RED refills.

I called and emailed all my favorite online, (and out of town "brick") dealers just the 2 days ago, and none could find any available at that time in RED.
I will contact them again and let them now they ARE available!

Thanks to all concerned and all that helped.

Joe

(I just had a thought, after all this, I hope I like performing this and will get good reactions, once I have enough refills to practice it enough and perform it, there is always the chance I will suck at doing it, lol)

I did not get any info from Jason regarding the close down of the Astonishment Project web site... I am confused. Where can I take a look of this announcement?

Besides, who will be the administrator of the Official True Astonishment web site? It is too quiet there, maybe my contribution is not worth while for people to discuss there...

Most important of all, since Paul Harris showed in all source that he want a quiet life, his take up of the web site will last long? I don't know, I just have too many concerns now...

I got the RED backed Twilight Angel refills today! Penguin had them! And it only took 2 days to get here with free shipping!
I should have went there first. And they are the least expensive I've seen.
I specifically asked for RED in the comment box, so if you don't ask for the color you want they will send you whatever.
So anyone that orders and wants a specific color, be sure to put that in the comment box. I also put if they did not have red I wanted a refund. So I got RED! I now have 50 refills and will start perfroming this tonight!

Thanks to all who helped!

I'll post how it goes!

I have this flat mirror I got from one of the trade shows I did, it was a give-a-way, it slides open and there is a little light that comes on when it is open. I'm thinking of using that as an "angel catcher". And I just got the Kennedy Light Paddle, I'm trying to figure out how to combine the two. There is more on the Light Paddle posted under the Light Paddle in the forum.

I see that now! I bought mine before they had that link. I called them and they said I had to put I wanted Red in the comment box. I paid $4.65 for a 10 pack of refills minus my 10% and free shipping! I'm glad I got 5 packs of 10! And I got red!
That's a bummer they are now charging more for red. I hope by the time I use my 50, they will come back down in price.
I was going to priaise them, but that is unfair to now make the red cost more.
I guess it is supply and demand.
We will have to see what other dealers do.

I might be wrong, but there seems to be an over-abundance of blue backed Twilight Angel refills. To be ethical, they should sell the red back refills at the original price($5.00 plus discounts), and the blue ones at a half price or whatever discount is fair. I already have a pro show I've been doing for almost 30 years and I am in a comfort zone I don't wish to change this month and I have a lot on my plate. For others just starting or that or on the fence, they can put the blue ones on clearance and let the new entertainers buy them up at a good enough price to let everyone perform this and be able to give away lots and lots of mementos.

Just my thoughts. But no one listens to me anyway, Smile

Well, I take that back. Actually, several of the major dealer that read this forum this have changed their policy and other things that made my life working full time easier and I supported them by buying their products.

(ps: I do pretty much almost have blue back of every "special" card effect I do, but I have not decided to go there at this time. At one time I was blue. But I changed to red for one specific show stopper, and I like it.)

I see a partern of the red selling for twice the price. It sounds like it is time for a boycott!

I think I saw a performance of Instant Replay at the beginning demo. Where is this piece in the discs? I looked the easter egg at disc 2 but that isn't the same.

I'm seriously considering using blue after I run out of reds. I guess I will have to carry an extra deck of cards now, as I have a different killer effect with reds. And I switch out for an invisible deck in reds, my NFW is in Reds, and I have several other gimmicks in red.

I could let the spectator pick the deck, and depending on which they pick, that is the trick I will do.

I really, really want to perform The Weirdling, but I don't like the idea of tearing off the corner to keep their phone number. This limits me to perform only for certain people. I'd really appreciate it if I could get another idea that will work for anyone (not just girls and not just my age) and makes complete sense.

Technically I could follow this up with The ReinCardnation but then they wouldn't get to keep the odd souvenir card.

For those of you who like The ReinCardnation, and who are tearing off the corner for their phone number, all you have to do is The Weirdling, but at the end, perform The ReinCardnation and you simply don't restore the last piece, you keep it for their phone number and hand them back their restored signed card that is all inverted. It's a doubly mysterious card.

Patrick, I just have them initial/sign one corner and then I sign/initial the other corner. I also do it in that order to justify why I'm still holding the card. In the end I tell them "I'll keep mines and you can keep yours." I also tell them that I'm practicing origami etc. etc. A subtlety I've added is dating and initialing the little coffee cups using pens and pencils, then mirroring those on the prepared card as well.

But why would you sign the card? And why would you want to keep your own signature? The subtlety is a nice touch.

Instead of asking the spectator to write down their phone number you could ask for her email address, MySpace or Facebook ID, etc.

Or if the spectator is a guy, or a lady with a very big and jealous looking boyfriend near by, you may want to talk to them for a while and then ask them to write down something that they had told you about, like the name of that movie they liked or their favorite web site, the name of that book they liked, or the name of that cool bar they told you about, etc. All of those things give you a reason in the end to rip off that corner and keep that bit of info without asking for personal info like a phone number or email address.

Thanks Thales, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. I want something that I can use even if I approached a complete stranger right then and there. I don't want to have to ask them for their phone number or email address nor any other piece of information that we may have been discussing about.

Doesn't need to be a reason behind signing a corner yourself. It's a very off the cuff kind of thing, if you do it casually they will not question it (even though none of it makes sense, but then again, you're going to leave them with a impossible object which doesn't make sense in the first place, think about it). It's actually a lot more agreeable for the spectator for you tell them that you're going to sign a corner as opposed to asking them for personal information. It seems illogical to tear off the corner and keep it for yourself but the line "Let me take my corner, and you can keep yours" plays very well. I've gone through half my supply of cards already performing it just like this. I did think about having them sign the corner I'll tear off and then signing the corner which they end up with, as a signature/initial trade but never really gotten around for that since how I'm performing it now has been quite smooth and I enjoy immensely watching them go off to the corner fiddling with the card trying to figure it out.

All right, if you say it works then I guess it works. You've sort of convinced me and I'll try it out your way. I'm just really itching to try this out because I KNOW it'll seriously f*** up their minds.

It does... but not in a "OMG, did you see that?!? OH SNAPS" kind of way. It's a bit conversational and you should not draw too much attention to it. Don't make a big show out of it BUT do take your time and be deliberate so that they tend to watch you like a hawk. It'll sneak up on them when you show the reveal. After the reveal, I like to have them rub the "seams" a bit before I finish by tearing off my corner and giving the card to them. Don't rush through it, you really want them to be curious as to why you teared the card and folding one corner, etc. It's great to see their reactions grow (if that makes any sense).

Yeah I get it, I got that when I watched the DVD. I was never going to rush through it, I understand that the slow build up is what really messes with them. I also know that there won`t be screams. It`s more of an internal reaction. That`s why I said it will really f*** with their minds. The astonishment is deeply rooted in there.
