So this is apparently some kind of design flaw in the box's construction.
Being that most of us are experiencing winter months - the only explanation is that the type of wood used in the box's construction is VERY vulnerable to humidity levels (much like that of an acoustic guitar.) However, I contacted Tim Trono and he has already begun to take care of it! Excellent customer service! Thanks to Tim! |

Anyone that has an issue with the TA Box itself should contact the dealer you bought it from.

The box is very nice and I really like it, but I bought this set for the Magic, not the box.
After much soul searching about a signature, I decided not to have one.

Maybe it is indeed something to do with humidity and expansion of wood. Here in Hong Kong we don't experience very cold winters anymore (I'm sure the rest of the world will experience the same whether phenomena in the near future). Anyway, my box doesn't seem to be affected - touch wood!
I also agree that we paid for the CONTENTS and not the packaging - although the overall package was vey appealing - in a rustic way! What will be complaining about next? Maybe when the cardboard covers of the DVDs themselves start to warp? Guess it boils down to what my mum always said..."you can't please all the people all of the time!" |

I should have had second thoughts before posting anything "negative" knowing that I'd come under fire.
My comments have nothing to do with the quality of the set as a whole, the props included, or even the box. I was wondering if I was alone with this problem. Apparently, I'm not. The set is phenomenal and I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase. I think its important to put problems like this out there so that, perhaps, something can be done in terms of manufacturing these boxes in the future. Lets face it - when the set was first announced - one of the biggest draws of "Oooohs and Ahhhs" was that puzzle box. In fact, the box alone would retail for $150, remember? Some of us are keeping this the opus of OUR collections - why wouldn't we want it to be in great shape? Maybe not? |

Just got home and checked my box, (I really never looked at it that close) no crack. I live in a very humid area.
I still like the magic more than the box. ![]() I can understand how a cracked box can be a bummer.

I live in San Antonio, Texas (where the humidity can be a killer!) but I haven't seen any cracks on my box.
I hope it doesn't happen but gotta keep an eye out for it. A big thanks to all who've shared their stories. Appreciate the heads up! ![]() Rochaz

The Astonishment Project website has the BLUE backs in stock now, I think. I bought several 10-packs last month, and they had the best price I could find.

Does anyone know where you can find the red backs? I read somewhere on TMC that the USPCC is going to stop printing cards like this. If so, these cards will be collector's items pretty soon.

I also heard a rumor from the owner of a brick and mortar that USPCC is under new mangement and will no longer be making gaffed cards. That would suck.

Why would theys top making gaffs for Twilight Angles? With TA having come out, Twilight Angels gaffed cards will sell like hot cakes.

The rumor I heard was about gaffed cards in general--ie. double faced, double backed, etc. I wonder if there is a way to make our own TA cards. May require a change in handling. Hmm. I'll think about that.

Yeah I understood that but I'm just saying it's stupid. The only reason they'd do that is because they aren't making enough money off of it to justify the manufacturing of the gaffs. Since people will be buying at least Twilight Angel cards alot, they should keep making them. They're going to take away a very powerful effect from magicians. That's not fair. You could make your own by splitting a card and cutting out an angel and then super gluing it next to an angel on another card, then scratching out the other angel, but it would definitely not have the same impact as a card with the angle PRINTED in the other position.

Has anyone heard from Jason? I ordered some red back refills for Twilight Angels a couple months ago and already paid for part of it. He said he's have more in about two weeks and that was 2 months ago. I've emailed him a couple times at three different email addresses but have gotten no response.
Also, does anyone have a link to the TA forums? My harddrive crashed last week and I lost the link. I tried doing a google search but couldn't find it. |
