What should be the ideal distance of wireless mic to the receiver? Sometimes, I get a clicking sound when it is at a far distance. I am using UHF.
Should the receiver be situated on the stage?

Hello, Lou!
Yes, the receiver sould be on the stage. You should keep the shortest-possible, unobstructed distance between your transmitter's antenna and your receiver's antennae.
Ideally, if you're wearing your beltpack on your left side, your receiver should be stage-left: If your beltpack is on your right side, your receiver should be stage-right. This helps with the "unobstructed" part, because your body does a very poor job of passing wireless signals.
One thing, though, if the transmitter and receiver are TOO close to one another (less than 2 metres or so) you can have problems.
Cheers from Toronto!
